Quote# 89273

I had a mother come up to me last night here in Tampa, Florida after the debate. She told me that her little daughter took that [HPV] vaccine, that injection. And she suffered from mental retardation thereafter. The mother was crying when she came up to me last night. I didn't know who she was before the debate. This is the very real concern and people have to draw their own conclusions.

If her daughter was retarded, she was retarded before she got the vaccine.

Also, does anyone else smell bullshit?

It took this long for this quote to get approved? Or has Michelle started running her mouth again?

Oh, Michele, what's really on your mind?

I see, Glassy-eyes, that you've finally managed to have some of your fiction printed by Cosmopolitan. Congratulations.

Ah, our good old Bachmann.

Possibilities:
1- This story is made up
2- The daughter already had a handicap
3- The mother had a conflict with her kid and prefers to believe that something else damaged her daughter instead of working on their relationship

The cynical part of me believes 3, because I've seen enough "something unrelated to me spoiled my child so I'm free from educating it" parents to expect that kind of crap.
But 1 is a lot more likely.

Old quote. Batshit Shelly was raked over the coals for suggesting the HPV vaccine causes autism or mental retardation. And it's been suggested that she made the whole story up.

The same age that children are vaccinated, is the same age when they start to show signs of mental health issues. It's what you might call "a fucking coincidence". People should draw their own conclusions after they've actually done a bit of fucking research. Not vaccinating children CAUSES CHILDREN TO DIE. Aargh.

Bachmann almost certainly pulled that straight from her ass.

How many fricking times do people have to be reminded that the original scientist who wrote in "Lancet" has been discredited and that no study has ever shown a link between any sort of mental disfunction and vaccines since?

Fucking retarded anti-science nation.

Why would Batshit Bachmann object to this? Makes the kid much more likely to vote Republican.

So the question is, when did Michele Bachmann receive said vaccine?

Let's hope her advise isn't followed: the scandals about MNR in UK, the polio vaccine in Nigeria and the HBV vaccine in France have showed the danger for public health of such disinformation.

@Rabbit of Caerbannog
It's not the vaccine, it's just religious indoctrination.

I'm pretty sure that what actually happened was that the child came out as a lesbian, and the mother (being an avid Bachmann enthusiast, of course) took that to be a mental illness.

Hey, if Michele can jump to conclusions, I can too.

@ Tempus,

It's not impossible for a person to become retarded. For example, brain damage from car accidents or poisonous chemicals sometimes results in a substantial decrease in IQ.

But I still call bullshit.

So the kid got the injection and the mother suffered from mental retardation?

With her being a Bachmann supporter, it sounds about right.

Not this shit again ...

On behalf of all other Minnesotans, I apologize for the people who keep electing Bachmann to the House.

(I take solace in that Ellison and McCollum are both smart and, combined, outvote her two to one)

Did she have, maybe, some proof to go along with that anecdote? Or did you make her up entirely?
