Quote# 89440

Some jaded asshole takes a cruise to the Galapagos Islands, makes some observations, and Christians should suddenly abandon what the Scriptures say about creation in Genesis, Job, etc. What a bunch of nancies. If social pressure from some retarded atheists can force a retreat or pseud0-compromise with the walking dead, how will you ever take a stand for Christ’s death & resurrection. Grow a pair. In school they taught me that babies had gills, medical imaging technology proved what a bunch of nonsense that was. And I’m curious as to why people who believe in Biblical Creation are automatically assumed to be young earth types? That’s ridiculous. We have no way of knowing (Jewish Calender theories aside) and why should we even care? It’s of little to no relevance to our need for Christ’s atonement. The whole Evolution thing is just another excuse, in a long line of them, that people use to justify themselves and their sins. And Bill Nye’s show sucked anyway.

The longer a fundie rant goes without spelling or grammatical errors the more likely it is to be a Poe.

Very few people, historically, have really taken bible stories to be literally true. It's very much a recent thing. Darwin never said that people should reject Christianity, and many Christians have no problem believing in God alongside evolution. And "nancies"? "Grow a pair"??? Are you really trying to say that it's brave to stand up for idiotic ideas and cowardly to relinquish them in favour of evidence? It's actually cowardly to refuse to open your mind to ideas that make you feel uncomfortable. Some of the bravest people ever were those who spoke out against the ideas propagated by religion, because they were prepared to use their brains rather than their hearts.

This 'school' where you were taught that 'babies had gills', you didn't actually have to leave home to attend it did you?

9/10/2012 4:16:34 AM

Yes. Gailieo was such a nancy that he was too scared to reject his silly science and agree with the church.

Oh, wait...

Huh. I thought it might have been reference to Marie Callender's.(?)

They don't have to abandon them, they could just stop taking it literally, and interpret it as a symbolic mythological story, as many churches have already done.
Not sure what evolution has to do with justifying sins.

Mister Spak

" Christians should suddenly abandon what the Scriptures say about creation in Genesis, Job, etc"

Of course not. Christians should ignore reality and continue to believe their Sumerian creation myth.

Reynardine

Somebody must have read "The Water Babies" to him in school, and he took it literally. Babies don't have gills; very early embryos have embryonic gill structures, which during fetal development become Eustachian tubes.

Doubting Thomas

I don't care if you abandon what's in the bible or not, but you should accept evolution as good science. The rest of your rant sounds like sour grapes. "I can't prove what science says is false, so I'll just call it stupid."

"And I’m curious as to why people who believe in Biblical Creation are automatically assumed to be young earth types?"

- Its a reasonable assumption based on experience.

What's with all the Bill Nye slander on here lately? Seriously. It's beyond mind boggling. You'd have to be entrenched in some sort of horrible delusion to dislike Bill Nye The Science Guy.

9/10/2012 6:06:59 AM

No, Darwin's observation has nothing to do with creation, only with the adaptation of species AFTER they were created.

Fetuses have gill-like features during parts of their evolution into human-hood.

Evolution is a very poor excuse for any activity, as it's just a description of what has been observed in Nature, not a rulebook on what should happen.

What's with all the Bill Nye slander on here lately? Seriously.

I think it has something to do with a somewhat recent video he put out in which he talked about creationism... unfavorably, to say the least.

Out of all that bunch of words, the only thing I really could understand was "And Bill Nye's show sucked anyway.".

"Some jaded asshole takes a cruise to the Galapagos Islands, makes some observations, and Christians should suddenly abandon what the Scriptures say about creation in Genesis, Job, etc. What a bunch of nancies."

You actually have a point here--if it were 150 odd years ago when Darwin first did this. As soon as others read his work and made the same connections, and then started gathering experimental evidence and so forth, you become sort of screwed as your argument no longer holds.

"If social pressure from some retarded atheists can force a retreat or pseud0-compromise with the walking dead, how will you ever take a stand for Christ’s death & resurrection."

Walking dead?

"And I’m curious as to why people who believe in Biblical Creation are automatically assumed to be young earth types? That’s ridiculous."

It is ridiculous and we assume you're a "young earth type" because most of you are because you follow the whole (severely) flawed 6,000 year calculation.

"We have no way of knowing (Jewish Calender theories aside) and why should we even care? It’s of little to no relevance to our need for Christ’s atonement."

Fair enough. I don't personally give a damn if you think the Earth is 6,000 years old or six hours old.

"The whole Evolution thing is just another excuse, in a long line of them, that people use to justify themselves and their sins."

Exactly how does evolution "justify" sins?

You know what I heard when I read this?

"Some nearsighted French asshole discovers microbes and Christians should suddenly abandon what the Scriptures say about disease being divine infliction, and demonic possession? What a bunch of Nancies. Harumph-harumph! Derp da-derp derp!"

PS: Poe or not, this bilge needs to be rebutted due to the sheer number of delusionals who are willing to swallow it whole.

PPS: Before spell check, there were two accepted spellings for "calendar".

Is this fellow not aware that Darwin was an incredibly fundie Christian while on board the Beagle? That he didn't lose his faith until *after* he had finished On the Origin of Species? That he was still inclined to believe in God afterwards, but all evidence pointed to an evolutionary basis for all species?

Dr. Razark

"In school they taught me that babies had gills..."

If you had actually looked at the words in the book, and not just the pictures, you would have read that Ernst Haeckel's idea had been thrown out due to scientific progress. The same reason Lamark was mentioned in the book. You know, when new information comes in, you evaluate what you previously knew and, if needed, update your body of knowledge to reflect what is now...

What am I saying? You believe that a 2000 year old book contains all the unchanging knowledge necessary. You shouldn't be speaking on science. Clinging to your book is the very definition of antiscience.

As if Darwim was bored so he decided to take a "cruise" to the Pacific.

Try researching the Voyage of the Beagle and get back to us, kiddo.

I think this guy is still bitter that he flunked his biology class back in high school. Pity; I always found biology fun & fascinating.

And yes-christians should abandon what the bible says about anything, including creation in genesis-both versions.

I don't think he has to worry about us "walking dead" trying to eat his brains; any zombie that tried that would starve.
