Why I don't wote
As a citizen of the US, I have a right to vote. However, I do not exercise this right, because I believe that based on the Bible, it is wrong for women to vote.
Now, I am not trying to convince any other ladies of my beliefs. I simply wanted to share some Bible verses of why I believe what I believe, because I have been asked about it repeatedly.
1Timothy 2:12 - But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
Based on the Bible, it is wrong for women to exercise authority over men. However, women voting can lead to a passing of laws that the majority of men would oppose. One example of this is abortion - more than 50% of men are against it, but more than 50% of women are for it, which is why it is legal.

Then don't vote. And tell all your friends to obey the will of god.
> based on the Bible, it is wrong for women to vote.
Hey, you're right! But then again, based on the Bible, it is wrong for men to vote, too.
Let Greek and Roman pagans run those stupid democratic experiments, they'll *never* work. Monarchy is the future!
Wasn't Deborah a Judge in your book of contradictions? Didn't she kill Sisera?
This idiotic woman is actually acting against a democratic practice, and showing clearly that as far as fundies as concerned, the Bible doesn't approve of democracy, hitting out, as she indicates, against the essential act of democracy, the vote. She must be a commie. Moreover, she is trying to subvert others - by her own admission. She is a danger to the state.
"But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. "
Now, if you believe this is a direct instruction to women, why are you breaking your divine-ordered silence to teach anyone else on what they should do?
And when all of those Y-chromosome-carrying politicians urge you to vote, what will you do?
This is how to bring down the patriarchy: when enough men as well as enough women don't feed into it, it will die.
@QuasiRodent
Timothy's letters ... Timothy was a misogynistic scrote pimple who used his position to push his own agenda.
Complete and total Bible fail.
Those are letters *to* Timothy, not *by* him.
The letter were written by Paul, at least supposedly.
Agreed, you shouldn't vote. You shouldn't really be expressing your opinion, therefore, you should report to whatever man has authority over you so that he may chastise you. You should say a prayer to Bible God. Say the following:-
Jesus, I command thee to punish me, for I have openly expressed my opinion in a place where it is likely that men may be insulted and righteously angered by my inappropriate and insolent behavior.
O Jesus, my commanding man has beaten me but I feel as though you should further punish me for I am but a lowly and worthless female and have spoken out of turn.
Amen
Warning. Further punishments may be necessary after this unseemly display of unladylike behavior. Please, in future, remember your place, keep a low profile, remain silent unless a man speaks to you, practice your sandwich-making skills and be ready to spread 'em immediately on command.
And if you refuse to exercise your right to vote, then you have no right to complain or make commentary on the political landscape. In my view, those who refuse to take part in the process have not earned the privilege to criticize it.
Ah well, in two days time thousands of women in my country will vote for a party that does not allow women to be a member, and would like to see woman voting abolished.
Thankfully I can already tell that they will get two seats, like the last 30 years or so. At least
she is not voting against her right to vote.
If god's word is truth, it is THE truth, universal and unquestionable. So it's the truth whether or not god says it.
So go on, quit spouting bible verses and tell me why women shouldn't vote.
We ate from the tree of knowledge, we left the garden, and we've grown up as a species since. Stop trying to drag us back to the middle ages.
If you don't want to exercise the hard won right to vote, that is your prerogative, but you'd better show some goddamn respect for the women who fought so you could have that right.
And just so you know, voting is not an exercise of authority over men only. I find it sad that you'd rather be a brainwashed doormat than an independent person with a mind of your own, but it's your call.
I always thought , that this verse refered to teaching within the church of church doctrine.
It is perfectly fine for a woman to teach men things other than church doctrine. You could also argue that God commanded "render unto ceaser" and in modern context that is the legal obligations of the society in which you live.
"Based on the Bible, it is wrong for women to exercise authority over men."
Haa haa, you obviously never met my mother. She was about 5'1", weighed about 98 pounds and she once knocked out a 6'4" irishman who threatened to hit her. She had authority over pretty much everybody, may she rest in peace.
Women are not exercising their authority over men by voting:
The vote of one woman has the same weight as the vote of one man, as it should be.
That said, considering the lady's sheer ignorance, it's probably better if she doesn't vote. Uninformed voters are the bane of democracy, so easily distracted by shiny things and campaigns based on fear exploitation.
Combining voter apathy and voter ignorance with an unhealthy dash of voter intimidation and voting fraud, the U.S. hardly has a functional representative government.
Christ. This shit is always just fucking sad.
If people are going to vote they should make a rational, educated choice that's not based on hyperbole and false information. So I'd take a wild and crazy guess that this poor woman shouldn't be voting, anyway. But it's still fucking sad.
We've all seen this excuse before
"No offense, but I am about to say something offensive"
"I'm not trying to change you, I'm just telling you why you should change."
As far as I know, zero percent of men can get pregnant, so I don't give a shit what they oppose in that regard.
Come to think of it, I don't give a shit what other women think, either, since they wouldn't be the ones having to carry my pregnancy or raise or support a child I gave birth to.
It's my individual body. That's why we call it "choice".
Paul would have been fapping all over himself if he'd known that in a couple of thousand years' time, there would be millions of idiots declaring his made-up rules and prejudices to be "the word of God".
Especially if he'd known how they were controlling women.
Well, one less Teabagger voting means more chance of Obama getting his 2nd term.
Excellent! [/Mr. Burns] >:D
Spread the word, Zsuzie.
"However, I do not exercise this right, because I believe that based on the Bible, it is wrong for women to vote."
Which should tell you something about the Bible.
"1Timothy 2:12 - But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence."
This applied only in the church .
Nowhere in the Bible it is said that women haven't to interviene in the politic field: after all Deborah was a judge of Israel.
And, after all, when a fundie or a moron abstain to vote, all the better.
@ Reynardine
Ahhhh...I see. Thanks.
>"Now, I am not trying to convince any other ladies of my beliefs."
>Goes on to try to convince people of her beliefs
Uughh.
And how come these people seem to think that women have more power over these things than men? I mean, I know it should be equal, and that women should be the only ones to decide how their bodies are treated, but sadly, that's not how it goes.
"1Timothy 2:12 - But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence."
As much as I am glad that an ignorant wazzak like yourself is using that as the sole reason for not voting, I can't help but point out it is in the context of in the church/synagogue. As in, no teaching from the Book, no saying what the Book really means, and no asking what it means until you're outside the fucking church.
In other words, it's got sweet fuck all to do with anything OUTSIDE the church... so it's nothing to do with if you should vote or not. But don't let that stop you from not voting, please...
Like others have said: Good! Don't vote, fundies! More chances for Obama!
Well, Zsuzsanna, being a doormat often, are you? Please don't forget to make sure the men stepping on you wipe their feet properly!
Since you're a woman, quoting and trying to live by Biblical command, ...and using your logic, try following this one:
Shut the FUCK up, bitch, get off the computer, and fix your wife-beater a turkey pot pie!
Here in Australia voting is compulsory.
If you don;t vote, you get fined heavily. Not that I totally agree with the idea but you wouldn't want to live here or you could end up being jailed for your outdated beliefs.
By the way, we have a female Prime Minister too.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
