Quote# 89472

"The Todd Akin thing was so blown out of proportion -- it's a joke," [Victoria] Jackson said at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., when interviewed for my SiriusXM OutQ radio program. "How many times do people get pregnant from rape? It's point zero zero one percent. It's a joke. I read lots of articles. I know people, because I'm 53. I've know a lot of people, and I've actually never known anyone who got pregnant from being raped."

"And guess what?" she continued. "If I got raped, I would have the baby. And if I didn't want to keep it because I had these [mocking tone] horrible nightmares, I would adopt it out. But I think that God can turn a bad thing into a good thing. And that, if I got raped and a beautiful baby who was innocent was born out of it, that would be a blessing. The DNA of a baby is individual. It's not the mother's DNA. It's not the father's DNA. And that's why I believe abortion is murder, because it's not the woman's body. It has it's own DNA. If there's a boy baby inside of me, he has a penis. That's not my body."

In response to Gay Voices blogger Dan Steadman's post, in which he wrote about ending his friendships with both Jackson and Kirk Cameron because of their views on homosexuality, Jackson discussed her gay friends.

"I didn't see [the post] but I love my gay friends," she said. "My best friends who are gay, I've actually never seen them with a boyfriend. It's like -- we've never talked about sex. I don't think people should identify themselves by their sexual life. My identity is in Christ. Some people's identity is in what country they come from. But I don't think people should make their identity about their sex life. That should be private. Why are they in the middle of the street in a parade? Why don't they just have sex in their bedroom alone?"

i've never known anyone who got pregnant from rape either. i also can't think of anyone i've ever known that got pregnant by a eskimo.

god can turn a bad thing into a good thing, so long as it happens to support your agenda. it's amazing how god is so aligned with your agenda, isn't it? why can't he work that magic and turn children starving to death into a good thing?

a baby does have it's own dna. but so do bacterial infections. antibiotics are murder.

gay people don't have sex in their bedroom alone for the same reason that straight people don't have sex in their bedroom alone, because that's impossible.

The first half of this post is probably the worst shit posted on this site so far.

"It's a joke, but it's serious! And if a fetus possesses the holy penis it is of infinitely more value than the useless receptacle!"

If she got hit by a bus and the leftover parts were eaten by stray dogs it would be God's way of turning shit into shit.

"It's point zero zero one percent."

Um, no, it's 30%

"If I got raped, I would have the baby."

Therefore everyone who was raped is required to keep the baby.

" I don't think people should identify themselves by their sexual life. My identity is in Christ."

I don't think people should identify themselves by their imaginary friend. It leads to bigotry against those the imaginary friend doesn't like.

" Why are they in the middle of the street in a parade?"

Yes, why?

"Why don't they just have sex in their bedroom alone?"

Because that was illegal, until people who identify themselves by their sexual life took that case to court, over the whining and crying of conservatives who wanted them to keep it private.

The baby has a mix of the DNA from the father and the mother, and a few mutation of its own.
How can you first say that NOBODY gets pregnant from rape and then say that you would keep the baby if it happened to you? Contradiction, much?

I bet you have seen your best friends who are straight with boyfriends. Have you talked about sex with them? Why is it that when (some) people see a boy and a girl holding hands they think "Aaawww, how cute!", but when they see two boys holding hands they think "Ick, keep that to yourselves, don't push your sexuality down my throat, you perverts!"?

I think your religion ought to be private, actually. I'd rather know that a person is gay than that a person is Christian fundamentalist.

"If I got raped, I would have the baby. And if I didn't want to keep it because I had these [mocking tone] horrible nightmares, I would adopt it out..."

- Its amazing how cavalier you can be discussing a horrifying situation that not only has never happened to you but, according to you, is extremely unlikely to ever happen to you.

By "amazing" I mean nauseatingly self-righteous

Ah, the 'some of my best friends are gay' canard.

The only reason that heterosexuals are not seen as identifying with their sexuality (the do!) is because they are a large majority. And to infer that they do notg identify with their sexuality is plain dishonest: courtship, weddings, children, even divorce, important affairs in heterosexual lives, to be sure, are all manifestations of the celebration and indentification of/with heterosexuality. Divorce? Yes, because it leves the partners free to find other legal sexual partners.

As to never talking about sex with a gay friend, I wonder why? It's the most natural thing. My straight friends and I have on occasion exchanged thoughts and ideas on sexuality.

Victoria Jackson may identify with Christ. as she pleases. But if that involves denial of one's sexual desires, or denies sexual expression to others, then I submit is is a manifestion of a mental illness - possibly even a desire to control the lives of others in ways that would not be acceptable if such attitudes were directed back towards those that seem to want to do such a thing in the first place. We regularly see here cries from poor Christians that they are being persecuted because they are not allowed to impose their values and their will on others.

As to:

"Why are they in the middle of the street in a parade? Why don't they just have sex in their bedroom alone?"

This is dishonestly implying that those involved in a gay pride parade are having sex in public. It also seems to hint that they should go solo and masturbate!

On reflection, I find it hard to believe that this woman could have friends, let along gay ones. Generally in Europe people who are homophobic are frowned upon and are not encouraged to express their odd views in society. Nevertheless, there still are some troglodytes around, but very few compared to the US, as far as I can tell.

The rape argument is so totally false, it doesn't warrant a reply.

Only because they haven't told you. No should they have to do so.

There are about one million women currently alive in the US who have become pregnant as the result of rape. It happens thirty-two thousand per year; nearly a thousand times a day. It has happened more than once in the time it has taken me to write this comment.

What a terrible person. Newsflash: you do not dictate what other people do. Your facts and the entire worldview you base them on is wrong.

Do you really think being impregnated by a rapist is something that people on the street would just up and share with you for no reason? Hell, do you really think that anyone would ever confide in you about being raped when you have that kind of attitude? Are you seriously that dumb, Vicky?

Also, drop the "gay friends" act. Either you don't have any gay friends (except the ones who ditched you because of your bigotry), or you awkwardly tiptoe around the subject with them and don't share your general opinions about LGBT people. You're being dishonest in either case.

Here's hoping you don't have gay friends anymore. 'Cos they've all told you to fuck off.

A line taken directly out of Forrest Gump? Sure sounds like it.

Hands down the closest thing to comedy Victoria Jackson has ever done in her short (and completely unjustified) career.

My identity is in my wallet. Now where is that damned thing?

"If I got raped, I would have the baby."
About 80 percent of rape victims are under 30. (Rainn statistic)
The average age for woman to enter menopause is 50.
You're 53, but I am almost hoping you will beat those statistics.

Now be a good little girl and start protesting outside an abortion clinic. Self-immolation is supposed to be quit effective

And to think Weird Al, who's actually a rather cool, kind & VERY intelligent guy, was once best friends with this weirdo!

9/10/2012 2:05:18 PM

Oh My Dog!

If you are ever raped, and in the unlikely event you'll get pregnant at 53, go ahead and choose not to have an abortion. That is your right. You don't however, have the right to tell anyone else that they have to carry a pregnancy to term.

Why are they in the middle of the street in a parade?

Apparently Pride parade = Gay sex orgy. Must have missed a memo.

Why don't they just have sex in their bedroom alone?

Well, you should have a partner, it's more fun that way. ;}

How many points can Victoria possibly miss?

The actual number of rapes that result in a pregnancy is irrelevant because Aikin's comment (about the woman's body "shutting that down") is still wrong.

And you don't have gay friends, stop lying.

Correction for "Anon" - 32,000 rape pregnancies per year ~= 100/day not 1,000/day.

Does anyone else think that her idea of a gay best friend is her hair dresser and her decorator? I've never met my hair dresser's boy/girl friend either. I have however met the significant others of all of my gay friends'. Because they are my friends. Same as I know my hetero friends' significant others.
I hate Ms. Jackson so much. Her simpering little girl voice spewing such hatred appalls me.

Considering her sheer bigotry, Victoria is in no way a true friend.

I can not think of anything much worse than having to carry for 9 months an infant you don't want and that reminds you of the violent rape you experianced.

I know 4 women who all got pregnant after a rape. At least 1 had moral objections to the "morning after" pill.
1 of the four killed the baby efter she took it home from the hospital, by neglect, she just left it in the crib and closed the door.

The baby is 50% moms dna and 50% dads.

you believe abortion is murder but the supreme court of the country does not. You lose.

I've know a lot of people, and I've actually never known anyone who got pregnant from being raped."

Like they'd really tell some bigoted right-wing wacko like you that they'd been raped. Fundies, Christian or Muslim, take the same attitude: "What were you wearing? What'd you do to encourage him? What were you doing alone with him without your father or husband present?" The rape rate in Saudi Arabia is almost zero. Why? Because men don't rape women? No. Because the woman don't report it. They would get punished worse than the rapist.

Christian fundies? Same thing.
