What's so meaningful about authority over a woman?
In most cases I know of, man and woman are equal partners in their marriage, helping and supporting each other. A man can be strong, self-secure and feminist, stupid. The cases I have known of, where the man dominated the woman, it have always ended with the woman breaking away in disgust sooner or later.
At my workplace, they don't allow couples to work in the same department. There are many, many couples working there, (me and hubby for example), but very few work in close proximity to each other.

He doesn't seem able to conceptualise an equal relationship. Neither men or women are as simple as this stereotyping suggests. Women don't always just drop their knickers for whoever happens to be the richest man in the room. It's a very crude model of human behaviour, and even if it were true, it's a problem of a money system and not a problem of human nature.
This is a problem that could only exist in a hierarchical society, where men like this are constantly brooding on their position in a money-based hierarchy, and where spouses are seen as a sort of property to boost status, and thus jealously protected. For him, being a husband is an "office", ie, a job. It's the management of a propertarian relationship, the relationship of a commodity to a commodity.
And, indeed, he does take this idea to its logical conclusion: Buying your wife. What he's proposing is not essentially different from prostitution. Disgusting.

since women are typically smaller than men, I can't see much problem with men being the more protective in the relationship, or that there should be any stigma associated with the smaller partner looking to the larger for protection and security. But being the protector does not make one -dominant-.
