(Commenting on the Mars rover Curiosity)

No wonder they called it "curiousity". The b/w pictures and the blurry colored ones can make all of us in the eternal state of curiosity.

Curiousity kills a cat, they say. Have faith in a loving GOD before curiousity obliterates your soul into hell.

Doubting Thomas

Just further proof that Christian fundies are anti-science and knowledge. Better to remain stupid and superstitious rather than advancing humanity through learning.

A so space exploration is detrimental to somebodies soul. So, tell me, how are those meals in mental institutions?

9/20/2012 7:25:53 AM

Arctic Knight

Yes, because the only way to be saved from the wrath of your god is to remain willfully ignorant.

"The b/w pictures and the blurry colored ones can make all of us in the eternal state of curiosity. "

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curiosity_rover#Mast_Camera_.28MastCam.29

'The MastCam system provides multiple spectra and true-color imaging with two cameras. The cameras can take true-color images at 1600×1200 pixels and up to 10 frames per second hardware-compressed, video at 720p (1280×720).

One MastCam camera is the Medium Angle Camera (MAC), which has a 34 mm focal length, a 15-degree field of view, and can yield 22 cm/pixel scale at 1 km. The other camera in the MastCam is the Narrow Angle Camera (NAC), which has a 100 mm focal length, a 5.1-degree field of view, and can yield 7.4 cm/pixel scale at 1 km. (Malin also developed a pair of Mastcams with zoom lenses, but these were not included in the rover because of the time required to test the new hardware and the looming November 2011 launch date.)'

Coupled with the image enhancing facilities at JPL, the facts completely annihilates your argument.

...oh, and a 'saying' =/= reality. And Reality, backed up by facts - as provided by the mobile probe Curiosity - completely obliterates 'God' & faith.

Not many gaps left...!

This is EXACTLY why religion is a bad thing.

breakerslion

No wonder they called it "dogma", you have to have the brains and the eating habits of a golden retriever to swallow that steaming pile of crap.

Dear religion,

While you were busy with important issues, debating which chicken sandwich to eat and whatnot, I was too busy fiddling around and landing a rover on Mars. I'm sorry.

Sincerely,

Science.

The Crimson Ghost

Did this dunce sustain an injury to the head? They misspell curiosity 3 times but spell it correctly once.

Hard to have faith in something or someone that doesn't exist.

John

God supposedly confounded our languages when we tried to build a tower out of mud-brick and tar (which you'd think He'd know couldn't possibly reach more than a few hundred feet). How come He didn't stop us from sending a spacecraft to Mars? Is He getting less anal in His old age?

So your god prefers ignorance and stupidity? Good reason not to follow him.

Mister Spak

" Have faith in a loving GOD before curiousity obliterates your soul into hell. "

Why should I believe hell exists? Do you have pictures? Even blurry pictures? Did you send a rover there?

"Have faith in a loving GOD before curiousity obliterates your soul into hell."

They genuinely don't see the irony, do they?

In other words, if we find any evidence of life up there, your god and his bible are fucked. Fingers crossed...

"Blurry". "Blurry?"

The cameras on Curiosity have several times the resolution of human eyes!

Have faith in a loving GOD before curiousity obliterates your soul into hell.

That's some god you have there. Punishing curiosity and rewarding ignorance. So, why should I worship him again?

9/20/2012 10:48:58 AM

Well, according to Christianity, mankind's original sin (which got Adam and Eve banished from the Garden of Eden) is eating from the tree of knowledge.

So yes, the Christian deity does punish curiosity and reward ignorance.

1. Satisfaction resurrected the cat!
2. We're not cats!
3. I'm not speaking for God, but if S/He didn't want us to be curious, then S/He wouldn't have given us brains!
@ breakerslion: That's an insult to Golden Retrievers everywhere...even they wouldn't swallow that! Dogs tend to be quite curious as well :)

9/20/2012 12:49:56 PM

Oh My Dog!

I really hope this is a poe.

But just in case...

You can sit and burble about God, sin and hell all you want while the rest of us fly to the stars.

wow you sound boring and stupid..
I would kill to be able to see the new mars Pictures and data As it comes in. unlike you ya big moron i am hungry for knowledge and i will not stop learning all i can before i die..

*Researcher Twilight part of personality is active*

to be curious is a way to better yourself, advance society, and knowledge. from what it seems is you are afraid of people learning and growing because you know they will find your religion illogical and doesn't make any sense.

look at society now they are starting to reject a large chunk of Christianity's morals because they are actually hateful and bigoted and dose not work in an actual growing and evolving society structure.

you are afraid of change and of new ideas...
that is why you think curiosity is evil.

get off my planet idiot!

p.s. I really want to know everything i can.

Stab out your damn eyes then if you don't want to see. I don't care. The rest of the world moves on while you want to remain an ignorant fool....
