Quote# 89715

There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…

These are people who pay no income tax.
My job is is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

I believe that people are entitled to healthcare, food, housing, etc., and I pay taxes at a higher rate than you, Mr. Romney.

Fuck you, Romney. Shame on you for dissing kids, folks in the armed forces, and old people like that. This guy is a complete moron of epic proportions.

What about all those rich people who believe that they are entitled to tax breaks? You know, the ones you support? That's not an entitlement?

Literally 1/2 the country does not pay any taxes (they get 100% back and some even get 'earned income tax credit'...how is it 'fundy' for someone who to question that?

As to what people are 'entitled to', I personally am sick of people thinking they are entitled. I grew up dirt poor and worked very hard to become affluent. I was not 'entitled' to anything. I worked for it.

Ah yes, the now (in)famous video.

This, when it was released on YouTube, was an absolute gift for the Democrats, and I hope they use it in their equivalents of our 'Party Political Broadcasts'.

Great way to completely turn nearly half of your potential voters off voting for you (and that's before we mention Todd Akin's own 'legitimate rape' gaffe, doing similarly for at least half of the US's electorate as a whole).

'How to Lose friends and Alienate people' indeed. And the way things are looking polls-wise, seems Obama has very little to worry about.

Because Romney wants the increase in tax to be levied on people who can barely get by as it is so that he can increase tax breaks for his rich friends.

Ok, this may very well cost him the election (at least, my vote, that's for sure) - but I don't see anything funy-esque here. Just a typical Republican party b/s.

I shudder to think that the US presidency is one Spanish-implosion away from being given to this guy, who fits disturbingly well next to everyone else in this archive.

On the contrary, most of that 47% pay taxes: paycheck taxes, food taxes, gas taxes, car taxes, etc. etc. They just don't pay income taxes. And no, they don't "get it all back"

Fundy, however, is to claim that as president his job is "not to worry about those people"

Grey Wolf, would you mind explaining about that Spanish implosión, please? I'm sorry but you lost me at that one

How did it take this long for THIS to get FSTDT'd? On an unrelated note, this makes 18 quotes in FSTDT alone today, the most since I started coming to the site.

@somecommonsense: "I grew up dirt poor and worked very hard to become affluent. I was not 'entitled' to anything. I worked for it." I get it. You are just another person who hates the fact that not everyone who is poor is suffering as much as you had to. Get over yourself and learn how to have empathy for other human beings rather than stroke your own ego at their expense, dick.

When you propose to be President of only half the people, Mr. Romney, you are asking us to vote for a half-assed President.

@arcangelsd

It refers to the likely scenario that Spain will follow Greece, Portugal and Ireland into bankruptcy. While the first three are small countries and Germany has enough money to bail them out, Spain is simply too big to fail... but still might, anyway, and drag the world's economy with them. If Spain implodes before the election, even the US economy will reel, and Obama's chances at reelection will take a dive with it. At that point, Rmoney would win by default

There are lots of people , hard working who pay no income tax because their income is below the tax threshold.

So we should kick unemplyed people, kids who need food and shelter, diabled people who can't work into the gutter to die ? I thought a government was for the benefit of all its citizens.

Its sad that in the so called richest nation on earth there is not health care for everyone, and food and lodging.

Of course Mitt, you only care for those that can benefit you, that is very clear.

Translation:

I only care about the people who, like me, make millions of dollars a year while doing almost no work. People who donate to charity not because of a sense of generosity or anything like that, but because it gets us a break on our taxes.

Screw the working class schmucks. It's not like they do anything for us.

Bastards! Why don't they just starve to death like good little pawns? I want a new yacht but all these damn poor people keep wanting to eat and go to the doctor! They're so inconsiderate!

Is this fundy, or just stupid?

@somecommonsense- I grew up dirt poor and worked very hard to become affluent.

That's nice, but not everyone has the same opportunity. You think a disabled man who is drowned in medical expenses can simply "work his way out"? Or what about a homeless man with schizophrenia? If so, then you're delusional. Success obviously takes a lot of work and determination. But what you seem to ignore is that it takes a lot of luck and knowing the right people. Many people work VERY hard all their lives and remain part of the working poor. That you think somehow you are special, that you are the only one that works hard really shows your arrogance.

Also, not fundie. No mention of religion anywhere.

And not-entitled-to-healthcare means what? You'd as soon let the uninsured die? Denied health insurance because I'm not employed by a company offering health insurance and insurers won't cover me individually because of my health conditions makes me fairly cranky with those promoting the you're-not-entitled crap.

And, yes, you suck a&& mule, I DO pay income tax.
