Citation Needed that Jefferson actually said what fschmidt would apparently like to think that he said. A fairly deep Google search traces all references to that quote to a single source, "Women in American politics", by Martin Gruberg, published in
1968 and not available online. And the quote does not appear in the searchable archives of The Thomas Jefferson Papers (
http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/collections/jefferson_papers/).
Certainly Jefferson was a misogynist and a racist - he was a smart man and did some good things, but also far too many bad ones. But that particular quote does not appear easily attributable to him.

Did you actually read what he said? He is flat out stating that women are inferior in every conceivable way & are good only for housework & breeding. Women live under that every day. Perhaps not face to face, but it's there. Misogyny of that caliber makes my blood boil; it's a redhead thing:)
