Regarding the Chik-Fil-A boycotts - and yes, they're still harping on the issue in late September
It is economic warfare against their political enemies, that’s the only way to describe it, it is literally economic warfare against their political enemies; it is nothing more than that, nothing less than that. The left is almost universally unscrupulous, they are amoral—that’s part of their philosophy—so they feel free to attack anybody and anything that they don’t like and they have legions of lawyers willing to go into court and sue and sue and sue again. They’re organized base is willing to uniformly engage in economic boycotts of companies so it’s a highly organized, almost a military type of organization, very monolithic that gets behind the leaders on any issue and they attack people, and they attack people and terrify people. We don’t have anything like that we are not inclined to do that because we are not that immoral, we just don’t do those kinds of things unless we are attacked first.

in a "free market" you have the right NOT to buy from any company you want, even if its for a really ridiculous reason (not saying that the chick fil a boycott is based on a ridiculous reason, but even if it was it would make no difference.)
Oh, how I love the smell of Christian hypocrisy in the morning. "Economic warfare" is OK I guess when it's your side using it against McDonalds, Disney, JC Penney's, Ford, and countless others simply because they choose not to discriminate against gays.
How Christlike of you.
Never mind the fact that Cathy used a rather sizable chunk of the money his business brought in to fund a bill to execute people in Africa for being LGBT.
Boycotting said business because one's conscience says it's wrong to kill people because of their sexuality is not persecution. Killing gays for being gay is, though.
See how that works?
He did a shitty thing and got called on it. Back up the whaaaaaaaaaaambulance and relocate, perchance to actually find the rare and elusive case of real anti-christian persecution.
Hint: look outside the US.
Of course, when the AFA boycotts businesses, they're just fine, upstanding Christians standing up for their Christian principles against the evil gays who are attacking them just by simply existing and having the audacity to ask for the same rights as everyone else.
I'll never fail to be amazed at how much of an outrage over the CFA boycott by conservatives there is when conservative Christian groups boycott businesses every day for far less noble reasons.
"OMG! The other side is organizing! That's not fair! Only we are allowed to do that!"
It's a free market, I don't have to eat at Chicken-fucker as much as you don't have to buy sex toys.
Oh, but when fundies boycott JC Penney, Disney, and Oreo it's not economic warfare, it's just people standing up for what they believe in. Funny thing is if I told you that you'd probably agree and completely miss the hypocrisy.
So a certain section of the US's population - and their supporters * - are voting with their wallets?

Cry more.
*- Whilst only living in the UK, I'm there in spirit with all the good LGBT peeps & supporters Stateside. And buying the products of the pro -LGBT Pepsico (Pepsi, Walkers Crisps & so on) b^_^d
"They’re organized base is willing to uniformly engage in economic boycotts of companies [...] We don’t have anything like that we are not inclined to do that because we are not that immoral, we just don’t do those kinds of things unless we are attacked first."
If I recall correctly it's you guys on the right who wanted to boycott Hallmark Greeting Cards when they came out with their cards for gay marriage, and it's you guys who wanted to boycott J.C. Penny when they made Ellen DeGeneres their spokesperson, and it's you guys who wanted to boycott Anheuser-Busch when they advertised their beer in a magazine targeted at gay men.
we just don’t do those kinds of things unless we are attacked first.
But the Cathys did attack first - both in words and with financial support. If you don't want to damage your business, keep your mouth shut. Nobody's obligated to buy from people who insult them.
It is economic warfare against their political enemies...
No, it's called a "market reaction", the one type Libertarians all go gaga over and tell me is what we all should do, vote with our money.
If the market don't like Chick-fil-A and their bigoted hatred, they are free to spend their money elsewhere.
Wait...what? I was in a Chik-Fil-A once. What is this chicken you're talking about? I found nothing like real chicken there.
J.S., have you noticed we atheists have been practicing "economic warfare" against your churches. I, for one, boycott them utterly.
It is economic warfare against their political enemies, that’s the only way to describe it - We don’t have anything like that we are not inclined to do that because we are not that immoral
Yeah, conservatives would never do something like that:

Okay, did the gay community actually do anything other than not eat chick fil-a and complain about the prejudiced behavior on television?
Oh, you don't do those kind of things unless you're *attacked* first. Like, if somebody says something that offends you. But if someone announces they're giving money to organizations expressly designed to hurt you, that's not an attack, and you'd never stop giving money to someone just because of a little thing like that.
It's really fascinating how the organized orthodoxy always believes their enemies are a menacing evil beast, even more organized than they. This is the exact same rhetoric that was used about heretics in the Middle Ages vis-a-vis Inquisition. Well, plus lots of claims of orgies.
well breaking news: it appears that consumers choosing to exercise their most basic freedoms are now engaging in "economic warfare".
dan cathy could have called a press conference to announce that he is a homosexual and that chick-fil-a would refocus 100% of its charitable efforts toward gay rights organizations and issues and fundies would still be perfectly within their rights to boycott his product for all eternity. nobody would stop them.
i'll remember this quote after thanksgiving when the "war on christmas" bullshit starts to sneak in to the news cycle again.
Why is it that when the right boycotts something the left reacts with "meh...", but when the left boycotts something the right reacts with uproar? :S
It's almost like there's some link between idiocy and right-leaning tendancy.
Confused?
