Effective Jan. 1, the state will prohibit what is known as reparative or conversion therapy for minors.

Conversion therapy is a means of helping troubled teens overcome psychiatric maladies that have been deleted from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders for political reasons.

Needless to say, the Founding Fathers would not recognize an America in which bureaucrats rather than parents determine what counseling is appropriate for their children, much less an America ruled by freaks who attempt to impose sexual depravity by force of law.

...and because the actual psychologists couldn't figure out an actually effective cure. Which was especially ridiculous because it isn't actually harmful to anyone to begin with.

If you claim to have found a cure to something that isn't even a harmful condition, you'd better have pretty solid proof that what you're doing is actually effective. (Don't bother - the actual results from conversion therapy are less than stellar. Which just may have had something to do with the ban.)

Seriously, though: there's nothing wrong with being proud of amusing old traditions, but if people want to actually heal maladies, we've got actual science to do that these days.

I wouldn't say that homosexuality is harmless. If teenagers could actually be cured of the gay, I guarantee you that many would lunge at the opportunity to escape the constant physical and psychological abuses that they face on a daily basis- that is, if they weren't already in love.

If anything, the conversion "therapy" is doubly harmful in that it gives the teenagers a false hope that they can cast off their curse and be accepted as "normal" by their intolerant peers.

And before anyone brings it up, I'm not saying that homosexuality is a curse because it is inherently bad, I'm saying it's a curse because the intolerant MAKE it a curse.
