Quote# 90023

"What's killing us is all these entitlements, we've got to get rid of all of them. All this welfare, food stamps, Medicare, and then big government health care on top of it, it's all just too much! When do we say enough is enough?”

What do you mean, exactly, I ask him. You say people are suffering under Obama, don't they need some help?

“No. No more help, enough is enough. People have to pick themselves up, take some responsibility. Why should we be paying for people’s mistakes and bad choices? All these illegitimate families just adding to the population, making all these bad decisions, then asking us to pay for it? It's time to cut them off."

I ask for some clarification: what do you mean, just starve them out? What if people can't find work? Let them starve?

"Look, there's always something you can do. You telling me people can't make a choice for a better life? We have to help all of them? No. I'll tell you what really need to do with these illegitimate families on welfare—give all the kids up for adoption and execute the parents."

That's right. We're got to get rid of "entitlements.

Get rid of welfare. I mean, those loafin' poor folks should get a 3rd job... and put their kids to work too.

Get rid of food stamps. I mean, if they didn't have food stamps they'd go find good jobs.

Get rid of Medicare & other health care programs too, 'cause those old folks should just die to make more room for the rest of us.

Poor folks, old folks, brown folks, black folks, women and kids just let 'em die... but in a kinder, gentler way, of course.

Clearly the Stalin Murder Robot must be scrapped for Jesus Compassion Robot.

Cause that's the only thing these crazy probably would listen too.

Am I the only one who was taught in Religion school that the rule above all others was "Love your Neighbours as yourself and Love God with all your heart." The next down was "Do not do anything to anyone that you would not done to yourself." I may be an agnostic now, but those rules (Excising the God part) still make up the basic foundation of my philosophies.

The hilarious part of all this, if you ever managed to enact such a plan; your head would be right there on the chopping block, too. That's one of the perils of starting a bloody class war, especially when not even the majority of your own class would consider standing by such a fucking monster.

You'd be the one begging for help.

Is there some kind of requirement that to run for a government position you have to be certifiably insane?

A lot of "entitlements" are Medicare and Social Security (FICA), which have their own separate tax system. I paid between 1% and 1.45% of my salary for Medicare and 4.2% to 6.2% for Social Security for my entire working life, and my employer matched it. How does that work out to be "welfare"? FICA collected way more than it needed and has lent 2 1/2 trillion dollars to the rest of the government to spend on other things and to give income tax (FIT) cuts. A large percentage of FIT income isn't subject to FICA - investment earnings, pensions, royalties, business profits and wages over the FICA tax limit (currently $110,100 a year). That's a lot of FICA taxes middle class working people lent to people who didn't contribute to it.

I think this is a great idea!

It would remove the religious right from the population in a generation or so, they would simply die off without government assistance!

It's funny, really. This didn't offend me in the least (although I still thought it was stupid as hell), and as I kept reading I was ready to just rate it meh and move on.

Then that last line. Holy. Fucking. Shit.

"So not only does the child grow up poor but now you want to kill the child's parents?!? I swear, some of you conservatives are honest to goodness super villains. And not the cool kind like Magneto but the evil-beyond-all-reason type like the ones on Captain Planet."

I wonder how long it'll be before one of them proposes that the best way to deal with poverty is to force all the poor to live in a large arena and let the rich hunt them for sport.

Individual needs to buck up and support themselves, but corporations need coddling and more tax cuts, of course.

I'm honest to God scared here. This guy calls himself a Christian, but he'd rather kill the poor than help them like his own goddamn religious book -says-. Do they really only teach Fire and Brimstone stuff these days and skip all the charity work?

What is worse,though, that this text comes from an induvidual from OUR time peroid. Not a victorian factory owner, not a roman slave driver. A person who has grown up with the idea of life being sacred...

Dark days ahead, my friends.

After I, a healthy and hard-working young adult, had trouble finding even part-time work for six goddamned months after being laid off from a company that was bought out by it's competitor I find it unreasonable for anyone to believe getting a job is so easy.

Well there's always prostitution... oh yeah. That's immoral and makes more of those 'illegitimate families' you were just bitching about.

Asshole.

OH WAIT.

Godwin's Law be damned. You just called for genocide. You want the government to murder its own citizens because you don't like them. You are exactly like the Nazis. You need to take a long, hard look in the mirror and figure out what the FUCK is wrong with you.

This had better make the Top 100. Quotes like this are why this site was created.

Edit:

Oh, and here's another gem. The guy put out a retort later.

"I did not say that I wanted to execute parents on welfare and give their kids up for adoption.

I said that it would be better to execute the parents of an illegitimate child and put their child up for adoption.

Does it bother you that Progressives have to intentionally lie to make their positions look good? Could that intentional lie be a bases for a deformation of character law suit?"

So, the only difference he makes is that he is talking about "parents of illegitimate children" rather than "people on welfare." Just in case you might have thought this was a meaningful distinction, he adds about ten seconds later:

"Illegitimate children are most of the need for massive health care/welfare programs that are a major burden on Society."

This equates his statement with the one attributed to him. And then he has the gall to call liberals liars.

@Bob below me:

That comparison is as hilarious as it is frighteningly accurate.

"Have these people read the Bible??"

Christians? Read the Bible? LOL They treat it like those software license agreements. They don't read it. They just click "I agree."

Well, to be fair, nobody reads user licence agreements.

Except Richard Stallman.

@Pioneer
"Is every single person with a shred of power in the US fucking insane?"

Very likely. What makes a person want to have any political power or influence in the first place? A desire to do good? Very unlikely.

@Philbert McAdamia
"And where do we find the highest concentration of these poor families, with too many kids to support, and almost no job prospects?"

I'm wondering if Clifford is thinking of people with one particular skin colour here... but doesn't want to make it too obvious.
