Quote# 90075

This is why astronomers would benefit from being spiritually intent.

If advanced tech came to us, and everything was “solved,” this would free us up to tackle the truths that are yet more subtle than the Higgs boson.

The existential challenge is to recognize that “knowledge of physicality,” is not total knowledge. Not even close…..and perhaps not actual knowledge in the least.

The silence of the singularity can be sussed out. That which math and physics cannot measure are yet actual.

Non-sense, yes, but not no-sense. There are truths that cannot be expressed but which are knowable. Ask Godel.

Logic can’t get to everywhere.

If an advance society comes to us and is not speaking about God, then RUN!

I asked you for a point and instead you gave me a word salad.

M the cursed.

Belle Logorrhée.

(French for beautiful pointless small talk)

Seriously. This is meaningless gibberish and utter rubbish talk.

"If an advance society comes to us and is not speaking about God, then RUN!"

You mean OUR society? The modern world exists thanks to science, secularism and reason. You fundies are just standing in it, but you'd be more at home in 1699.

"If an advance society comes to us and is not speaking about God, then RUN!"

I'd be more worried about an advanced society coming to us and actually speaking about God.

Edg favors inexpressible knowledge, even though it's a contradiction in terms.

"If an advance society comes to us and is not speaking about God, then RUN!"

If anything that would be a sign of a more advanced civilization. Fundies are not advanced, they're retarded.

The existential challenge is to recognize that “knowledge of physicality,” is not total knowledge.

Ok, but what is total knowledge?

Let me guess: the Bible. Right?

Even the neighbor's dog is laughing, so forget it.

Is he talking about qualia? They're the only type of knowledge which can't be communicated, and I believe their existence is still the subject of philosophical debate. I am inclined to believe qualia exist, but somehow I doubt Edg has put that much thought into his post.

And if they are, run faster.

Did you know?

Did you know that floaty, ethereal woo is far more awe inspiring than science?

Did you know that advanced floaty, ethereal woo powers mighty alien cultures?

Did you know that the copyright in floaty, ethereal woo resides in Bible God & Son and that they have branches all over the galaxy?

You might not have known that because it is not logical, but it is floaty, ethereal woo.

"The existential challenge is to recognize that “knowledge of physicality,” is not total knowledge. Not even close…..and perhaps not actual knowledge in the least."

Possibly true. Given the limitations of our senses and the possibility that the rules of logic, the precedency of cause and effect and the laws of physics may not apply everywhere at all times in the universe, I'd say it's likely. How you get from there to an unperceivable deity writing a book of rules to follow is a bit of a poser though.

"If an advance society comes to us and is not speaking about God, then RUN!"

If they're shaped like plungers and saying "so it goes" a lot, I'll have to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Dude, I can tell you exactly how the heart works, how DNA splits and replicates and loosely how the brain works. The 'spirit' doesn't fit anywhere. Let me ask the physical questions.
What does the soul do?
Is the soul needed for conscious thought?
If not; How would a soulless human be different to us?
People go on and on about the soul but I never get wtf it's supposed to be or do.
Big question; How do you know the soul exists?

If something can be observed and related to our experience then it is by definition physical.

Even God if there is one, if we were to even begin understanding God all those rules we start realizing to explain him would necessarily be "physical" in nature, otherwise it's in-perceivable and then there's no point in worrying about it.
