Quote# 90093

Some cartoons, such as Tom & Jerry, give distorted ideas about the Hereafter, Paradise and Hell, and the Reckoning. Some cartoons include distortions of the stories of the Prophets and Messengers, and some poke fun at Islam and Muslims, whilst others (such as Pokemon) include the beliefs of eastern and idolatrous religions. And there are many other examples. Even if a film does not outwardly go against Islam, it still carries notions of western culture that are alien to our society and religion.

I grew up on Tom and Jerry and I just do see it. It's that same old bullshit--if you're not worshiping my god, you worship the devil and you offend me. Get over yourself.

Oh, it's just another pissed off Salafi foaming at the mouth...

Pay it no mind.

Yeah, that one where Spike used Tom as a double bass and sang 'Is you is or is you ain't my baby' is especially insulting of Islam. /sarcasm

Too late, dude. You can't live in a bubble anymore.

And? What are the consequences of the infidel cat chasing the demonic mouse? Islam is a ridiculous mythology at the best of times. Are we now to believe that the same beliefs which were the basis of 9/11 can be threatened by Tom and Jerry? You people are too stupid to be watching anything as sophisticated as Tom and Jerry.

Don't know why fundie. It's a factual statement - he says nothing of these notions being bad or good, just that they exist.

I personally don't remember a lot of discourse of heaven or hell in Tom & Jerry. It mainly revolved around a cat & mouse who enjoyed smashing each other upside the head with various objects. If your religion is threatened by this, then maybe you really need to reevaluate your beliefs.

Delightfully weird fundie quote. Is his problem with scenes in which Tom gets blowed up real good and ascends to heaven or descends to hell? Does Mr. Qayyim believe animals have souls? How about animated animals?

Your religious notions are threatened by a cartoon. I don't think there's a word for how tawdry and pathetic that is.

You're insulting religion as revealed by Tom and Jerry?

You blasphemer! There should be a law against you.

"Even if a film does not outwardly go against Islam, it still carries notions of western culture that are alien to our society and religion."

That's what happens when you're stuck in the 12th century.

I'm sure you're not aware of this given the ignorance level that seemingly runs rampant throughout Islam in general and specifically through Islamic countries, but you guys used to be the intellectual nexus of the world a few centuries ago, making advances in pretty much all scientific fields. You weren't too shabby in philosophy and art either. Perhaps you should set that as your goal and leave all of this current foolishness behind and regain your former intellectual glory. You did it once, I'm sure you can do it again if you'd put some effort into it.

"Some cartoons, such as Tom & Jerry" tl;dr...

Al here clearly lives under a stone. Post-the early 70s "Tom & Jerry" cartoons made in Czechoslovakia, I think you'll find animation has moved on. A great deal. And not just 'western culture' you consider so alien.

Ever hear of a series called "Galaxy Angel", Al? An anime series. As in made in Japan. As exampled by one of it's characters (and my favourite in such), Ranpha Franboise:

(With the trouser-melting voice of Yukari Tamura. :9 )

'The Burqa is a sexual scratchcard, isn't it?'

-Frankie Boyle

PROTIP: 1) The anime series "Dragonball/Dragonball Z/Dragonball GT" are extremely popular in the Middle East. Especially in Saudi Arabia. 2) Ever hear of the word Hentai...?

Vegeta! What does the scouter say about his paradox levels?

'IT'S OVER 9000!'

Tom and Jerry is also pretty unrealistic when it comes to hitting cats in the head with a frying pan. Religion in general provides all sorts of distorted and "out there" ideas about what happens when we die. So in that respect cartoons and movies aren't really any different, now are they?

Your faith is threatened by a cartoon. The issue is your faith not the cartoon

East is West & West is East but Ibn al-Qayyim's I.Q. is 3.

And...C'MON! IT'S TOM AND JERRY! A GOOFY CAT CHASING A GOOFY MOUSE WHILE BOTH INFLICT GOOFY AMOUNTS OF GOOFY PHYSICAL VIOLENCE ON EACH OTHER AND USUALLY BEING GOOFILY UNSCATHED DESPITE IT ALL!

What?! You mean a cartoon was... less than realistic?! You mean my dog can't actually work as a lifeguard, and I can't inflate my fist to smite my enemies? I've been living a lie...

Go piss up a stick, you moral and intellectual infant.

"Tom and Jerry is also pretty unrealistic when it comes to hitting cats in the head with a frying pan."

Or with Yuno doing the same with Miyako, in the anime series "Hidamari Sketch":

And not just 'cartoon violence' with frying pans, as exampled here:

Even alien abduction is cute. :3

@SpukiKitty

I am now imagining you as the art teacher in "Hidamari Sketch". Oh God Yoshinoya is HOT. :9

While I certainly don't believe all Muslims are as silly as this guy.

This guy is silly.

By the way, Tom and Jerry is a terrible show. When you sympathize with the supposed Villain, because he's more interesting and is just trying his god damn job, it's a terrible show.

Wazzamatter, you ran out of horrible Western culture influences in the present, so you had to go back to the 1950s? Yeah, people were not very PC back then. Go pee on the graves of Hanna, Barbera, Disney, and Mel Blanc.
