@Finni

That's what gets me the most about these people.

Reminds me of Evanglical Christians denouncing their churches because they hold Inquisitions (If you don't hold the exact beliefs of the head, you can get kicked out of your job) and bullying members into voting Republican, no matter their personal beliefs. Essentially, Evangelical organizations are essentially acting as tools of Politics.

And most of the Christians that notice this see this as exactly something Jesus would be against and are speaking out.

Broken base here, very much.

Congratulations! You have achieved new, unprecedented levels of wrongness! You ascend to the tier of.... ULTRA-WRONG: IMPOSSIBLE EVEN IN INCONCEIVABLE WORLDS.

Today's "poor" are the "rich" Jesus warned us about.

Well then, this problem is easy to resolve. Just give the poor lots of money. Then they'll be rich and not among the gluttonous, slothful, irresponsible and entitled poor.

Problem solved.

Next please.

These people that think the poor live a life of luxury should try it.

Feral Dog

This is in the same line of thinking that the pastor at my sister's church uses in his sermons. He insists that "poverty", "poor", "hungry", "lowly" and so on didn't refer to people's living conditions 2000 years ago- it instead referred to the state of their souls!

And you're the type of Christian Gandhi warned us about.
Jesus and the early Christians would have given the clothes of their back to clothe the poor and they would have shared their food.
You are simply a pig.

@Mattiedef

I think it has always been a broken base in some way or another.

But I feel these guys are worse, it's one thing to use the scripture to your own advantage during times when people not of cloth simply did not know better. It was wrong,yes, but they were well aware what they were doing was very wrong.

These people have the book translated to their own language, yet instead of understanding it, they twist the messages around so that it says exactly what they want it to say. That the way they are living is the right way, and they don't have to challenge their own political beliefs or change their economical standing. And they believe in their own lies, almost desperately. And they preach blind faith to these twisted ideals, snuffing out any rebellion or questioning about it.

It's pretty much sticking fingers in your ears and going 'lalalala' and pretending everything is fine, because facing the reality of the situation might break your faith, as it stands on a desperate hope that you are doing things right and don't have to actually challenge your beliefs.

I think that's why we get so many ignorant posts here, because all those who would call the twisted scriptures out have been either kicked out of the church or grown to hate Christianity itself. Those who remain don't challenge anything or try to figure out things on their own.

Now, this isn't true with most Christians, I would think. There are many whom are quite critical and can find an healthy compromise between their faith and the world we now live in. It is the people who have been taught not to question their faith that make posts like this.

...Woow, this became long O.o

Theists calling ANYONE else gluttonous, slothful, irresponsible, and entitled is the height of hypocrisy.

Last I checked, Shaidle, you lot are the ones with everything handed to them on a silver platter by a world so gripped in fear of you feral vermin that they bow to your every whim, elevating you above everyone else for no reason AT ALL, and yet you have the audacity to whinge AT ALL. That, among many other reasons, is why decent people find you theists loathsome in the very least. I'd ask how you can sleep at night, but words such as yours serve as a constant reminder of your kind's total lack of conscience.

You're an idiot and either don't know many Americans or have no clue what you are talking about.

Individualism is a major ideal in America. It always has been. You probably shouldn't paint an entire nation with such broad strokes. It makes you look ignorant and incapable of thinking for yourself.

One more thing, Is this that idiot Brenden Rizzo?

This is a particularly American problem, because the Republican party has tied its brand in with Fundamentalist Christianity in order to get the poor to vote against their own best interests.
This is not an issue that you will see in the rest of the civilised world, as religion and politics are not so intertwined.
Nobody can really argue with the obvious fact that Jesus was a socialist in his own time, and certainly would be in ours.
This leads to a huge problem for the American ultra-right, as they now have to find a way to reconcile the vast gulf between their political beliefs and religious ones.
The result seems to be that they cherry-pick parts of the religion that suit their politics.

I have to hand it to the Republicans in one way though, it's quite a trick to convince poor people with no healthcare that they should oppose being given healthcare!

To quote the Daily Mash "what you have to remember about the Republican party is that they're basically the baddies in a film"
It may be a comedy site (the British version of The Onion) but they've hit upon the basic truth that an assessment of their behaviour and policies leads one to only one possibly conclusion: they are evil, this can't be said about any other major political party anywhere in the civilised world.

Is this person being ironic or have they just breached a barrier of stupidity unthinkable to life as we know it, actually achieved a negative IQ while still somehow functioning as a human, and possibly unleashed a mind-devouring Great Old One?
