Or, they will not get jobs right away and they will starve. And their kids will starve. And employers will have a huge amount of power to exploit their workers even more, if firing someone means starvation. That means people will do anything to hang onto jobs, which will give employers a lot of power which they will not hesitate to take advantage of. Wages will also be driven down for everyone else.
"The producers will be unburdend". Who are the producers in American society? Who is it who is producing things, and producing profit? Think carefully about the answer to this question.
The reason these social darwinist policies aren't pursued is because they are impractical in that they are incredibly destructive of society, including those conservative touchstones, church and family.

That entire page is ridiculous. This woman somehow thinks she's the only pretty princess who's NOT lazy/stupid/unmotivated below the poverty line?
Oh, and without welfare to help my (hardworking, industrious, too-prideful-to-ask-for-help-sooner) mother through a divorce, I would have been out on the streets. DIAF.
And Gary, hon, maybe you should have taken advantage of something we have here in Freedomland-- Public Education.

Most of David Cameron's cabinet think like this, unfortunately. Except their spelling is probably better.

You'd better hope that you never find yourself needing a job and the only ones available are proof reader or English teacher. You'll very quickly change your tune then, moron.

I'm sure Gary would be happy with that system until the day comes when he himself is judged to be a burden and he is cut off.

Go for it.
If anything, it will be short term and will totally discredit the selfish philosophies of libertarianism and unfettered free-market economies.
Then, liberals will pick up the pieces and fix things, at least until morons like you start to forget why they're working again.
It seems to be the way of things.

Mr. Bigglesworth
The fact is, the real solution for poverty in USA is not to coddle them, but cut them off. They will get jobs and back to work fast if no more gravy train is making them lazy, also take away there cable tv.
That might work for a small percentage, but most are in poverty due to circumstances beyond their control. Like the big employer in their area closes down and they don't have the money to move to where the jobs are, or they become disabled. Sometimes they just don't have the skills or education employers are looking for. These things cost money to acquire, see where I'm going with this?
They are dependents who are useless eaters to USA. Also there health care is a waste, shy spend a dime on people who are a drain on Freedom? Let them die, starve, whatever — the real survivers will strive themselfs out, the producers will be unburdend and best of all liberalis will be descredeted forev
Conservatives aren't even trying to hide the fact that they are evil anymore.
Also, the spellchecker is your friend.

"The fact is, the real solution for poverty in USA is not to coddle them, but cut them off."
But if the guy hasn't up to date training (as for the former miner or smelter), or the job market where he lives is depressed, would you let him starve in the streets?
"They are dependents who are useless eaters to USA. Also there health care is a waste, shy spend a dime on people who are a drain on Freedom?"
Thus you believe in the concept of "life unworthy of live".
The last guys to apply measures against those people ended in the end of a rope or lined against the nearest wall.

The majority of people below the poverty line in the United States are actually employed. Idiotic conservative loathing of the poor and deification of the wealthy never fails to bewilder me-as if the United States is a pure meritocracy and anybody who has anything has it because they deserve it.
Also starving people tend to not lie down and die quietly.

He obviously got cut off because he was punished for being too poor, and was too lazy to get a job. Let him starve.

Don't show that poor grammar and spelling skill to any future employers, Gary, or you'll be one of them lazy, coddled, useless drains on Freedom, before long.
Most people want to support themselves, and many people become unemployed by no fault of their own. To make it possible for them to focus on getting a new job, there needs to be a interim insurance that takes care of basic needs during that time. People also become ill by no fault of their own, and need to focus on getting well, that's when we need the health care system. We also grow old, if we're lucky, and won't be able to work any more, but still require food and somewhere to live. As these are risks we all face, the insurances ought to be paid by all of us together. That is why we pay taxes. (Roads, police forces and fire brigades are also nice to have.)

This message brought to you by the Republican Party.
I'm guessing this douchebag probably also is very pro-Christian, even though Jesus had very specific rules about taking care of the poor. That must have been some of those parts of the bible which were allegorical and not literal.

This utter contempt for the unfortunate is absolutely normal for a modern conservative. This could have been uttered by any of Cameron's Cabinet and that's when they're being polite. When unguarded, they'd probably talk about outright euthanising the poor and sick.

Not so fundie?
And, as many others have pointed out - an easy solution to propose as long as it's not me.
It is my hope that people like this will one day learn that we really are all connected. We really are supposed to look out for each other. I have no expectation that this hope will be fulfilled. *sigh*

@Ebon: I've seen worse quotes from real people, but it's the delivery of this that makes me suspect Poe. He uses a Nazi quote in "useless eaters", and the way he says poor people are "a drain on Freedom" is almost Onion-like.

Social Darwinism for everybody!
"cut them off, They will get jobs" The problem is that there are no jobs, so if you cut them of they will actually starve to death. And not even that, if you cut them off you're taking investments out of the economy - which would lead to a loss of jobs, not just in government but overall. Actually depending on the number of people in welfare it's actually reasonable that these measures might cause a depression all on their own.
And I'd like to take away your cable TV too, that way you might learn the difference between "there" and "their".
