So, in other words, we actually observe and do our homework, rather than blindly and lazily accept whatever doctrine is spoon-fed to us?

We let our minds avoid thinking about illogical, confusing and distorted things like religion, new age, etc. We focus on following the secular laws of the country we live in. If no-one was searching for answers, you would not be able to write things on a computer and post them on the Internet; we'd still be writing on vellum with feather quills. The problem with the "answers" in the Bible is that many of them are obviously wrong.

If you think the fruits of materialistic thinking are so terrible, free free to reject them.
I expect you'll be leaving your computer and your comfortable air-conditioned dwelling to go live in a shack in the woods any time now. Enjoy the complimentary smallpox!

If not accepting a book that claims pi to be 3 and to hold all the truths is stupid, I wish to be the stupidest person that ever lived.

Wow. The second sentence, examined on its own, is flat-out factually true, and the third sentence is at least true of me (that sounds way more fun than sitting in stone-age squalor and praying all the time). Is this really a fundie? Can they be this right about anything, even when they're being facetious?

"Atheists would rather search the world and the universe to “discover” truth and use a materialistic approach that leads to chaos, confusion, multiple conflicting theories, and endless searching for answers to questions that are answered right in the Bible."
- Because our way gets results. If you dispute this, please show us one tangible benefit to humanity which came about through using the bible.

And this is a bad thing how?
The fact is that we actualy ask questions, and seek logical answers... instead of relying on old arab mythology.
Your mythology wont ever increase crop yeilds the way science did (and continues to do)
Your mythology didnt eliminate smallpox. Science did.

There are some very annoying atheists out there, though. P Z Myers, for a start. Cthulu on a bike, but that man is such an arrogant arsehole.

Actually, atheists who are humanists are far more likely to be compassionate, tolerant, and understanding of their fellow man rather than automatically hate them if they're not of the same social/religious/political group like Christians tend to do.
But not being chained to ancient, superstitious, and ridiculous beliefs written in an ancient book and being allowed to see the world & universe for what they are is a far better way to free your mind. I'm so much happier now that I'm an atheist rather than back when I was a Christian and things didn't seem to make much sense when I looked at them through bible-tinted glasses.

But here's the thing. The Bible hasn't had a good track record of being accurate. And to have blind faith in a book that so far hasn't gotten very much right is ludicrous. When we followed the instructions of the Bible we were dying of the plague. When we used the scientific method we eradicated small pox. So don't tell me your book has any answers to anything. It doesn't. It's a nice little fantasy and I won't begrudge you that but don't you dare attack the naturalistic (not materialistic) approach that has saved countless lives and alleviated suffering for billions of people.

Could you please tell me where in the Bible I can find the explanation for the asymptotic theory of quantum hypothesis testing?

Fundies believe in anything that is illogical, confusing and distorted. They don't focus on an established set of laws and facts. They only look to the Bible for "answers".
Atheists would rather search the world and the universe to discover truth and use a materialistic approach that leads to factual answers.
There, fixed.

"Atheists would rather search the world and the universe to “discover” truth and use a materialistic approach that leads to chaos, confusion, multiple conflicting theories, and endless searching for answers to questions that are answered right in the Bible."
It also leads to thinks like computers and the internet, both of which you used to post this insanity and neither of which was derived from, nor powered by, prayer or the divine.
So, which approach would you say is more useful?

Very little vitrol on this side and this guy seems to almost as if he's supporting atheism with stealth praise.
"Multiple conflicting Stories" are in the Bible, why most people think of it allegorical as opposed to historical/factual/literal. "Think of anything illogical, confusing, and distorted." It's what's called an imagination, but thinking and belief are different things. Discover a reality to believe in...
I dunno, this guy is either too stupid to realize he's basically gunning FOR atheists or he's stealth praising them.
BTW, I can think of turnips with wings. Doesn't mean I believe in it.

Question for you... how many legs does a Grasshopper have? The Bible says four.... I guess the fact you can count them for yourself and see it has six might just say something about any answers you might find in the Bible. :)

Just because you found it in your big book of ancient fairy tales doesn't necessarily make it a fact.
The answers in the Bible may be easy to find but that doesn't make them correct.
As for conflicting theories, science corrects itself, when the Bible is wrong, it's just wrong, forever and ever.
