Israel provides enormous benefits back to the U.S. in terms of intelligence, improved equipment, and some new equipment as well.
Then why is it that the Israeli Air Force flies F-16's which were made here in the U.S., and during the first Gulf War it was the U.S. military bringing in Patriot missiles to shoot down the Scuds? Seems like they're pretty dependent upon the U.S. for military equipment. But I will grant that the Uzi is a pretty badass submachine gun.

A few million native Palesinian muslims and christians have a few words to say about that.
Their first word... "FREEDOM!"
Sadly, the native Palestinian jews will never be able to return to Palestine. Zionists like NYETARYAN, and his fellow racial fantasists, have driven a wedge between jews and muslems that can never be overcome.
End the occupation. Free Palestine NOW!

Actually, they got F-16 as a trade-off - not to develop their own fighter. Check out Lavi - it was a pretty awesome machine.

Do tell - what kind of wedge have the evil Zionists driven between the Jews and Muslims of, say, Yemen?

Well, I'm glad to say that not all Jews, not even all Israelis, not even all Zionists, think like this ... but I'm sorry to say that far too many do, and if you take the above as a working guide to Likud policy you won't go far wrong.

Zionism is pretty much the same thing as Lebensraum: taking the land and displacing (or killing) the populace of those deemed inferior to the master race.
Even their implementation is eerily similar, with the isolation of major population centers to kill off the people via starvation.

I'm not terribly happy with either side of the conflict. Entitlement of the jewish side or the extremism of the Palestinian. Some things need to be resolved in peaceful compromise, not missiles and bombs.

Indeed, the thing is, Israel-bashing is fashionable now, everyone seems to think the "in" thing is to support the poor oppressed Palestinians, and conveniently forget that those very same people would like nothing more than to wipe out the Jews to the last man, woman and child.
There is a great deal of both right and wrong on both sides, but only one side gets a fair hearing, as it's unfashionable to paint the Palestinians as anything other than sweetness and light.

I'm not sure if I really want to do this, but...

"Who give a rat's a** about what any non-Jew thinks about Israel. You guys are irrelevant as of 1932, if not before."
'1932'? And
who, pray tell, was it who gave them Palestine in 1947, so they could
create the state of Israel in the first fucking place...?! Now, which Empire was Palestine part of, pray tell; was it, the 'American' Empire...? Oh yes, that's right, it wasn't.
It was the British fucking Empire, you inferior subhuman Americentric cunt.
'Financial/military aid'? Bitch, please.
Money & hardware are fucking useless, if you don't have an actual country to send such to, so as to spend on/defend in the first place.
...oh, and what about all those Galils/Uzis/Desert Eagles/Merkavas already there; why do they need M-1 Abrams, M16s , F-16s/F-18s/F-22s, etc...?:
...because it's not as if they were relying on you for their fledgling air force in it's earliest days (when they were practically the only country in the Middle East with planes then). And who, pray tell, was it who North American Aviation went to for an engine for their P-51 Mustang fighter...? Yes, that's right. Rolls-Royce, for the licence to copy their V-12 Merlin (whassamatter? Couldn't build a better engine yourselves?! That's why you needed Frank Whittle's designs; also all those captured Messerschmitt Me-262s. To say nothing of capturing Wehrner von Braun). As used in the Supermarine Spitfire. The same planes used by Israel's early air force.
'Support Israel'? But only for your own 'Second Coming'/'Apocalypse' BS purposes; otherwise, a case of 'Fuck the Jews'; I'm alright, Jack!'.

Israel is a country not because they started an insurgency against the British in Palestine. The Brits finally had enough and couldn't get out fast enough when their mandate expired.
Yes, before and after (in Begin's case, during) the second World War, Zionists were killing British personnel. Because the Brits were trying to curb Jewish immigration.
Then The UN felt sorry for the Jewish people and officially gave them some land in Palestine, which the well organized Israelis went and took violently. Then the other Arab Nations counterattacked (wishing to take the land for themselves, not give it to the Palestinians), so Israel defeated them and took even more land.
A bloody mess was had by all.

The Israeli government persuaded Yemeni Jews that they would be better off living in Israel, and transported them there.
Currently they are at the bottom of the social heap and treated like shit. Since Yemenis looked after me when I lived there, this concerns me.

The issue is of course, is that any side that supports one or the other is liable to label any equal supporters as either side. I know republicans called NPR National Palestian Radio because they pointed out the harshness in Isreal's approach in reaction to suicide bombing and missile attacks just leads to more suicide bombings and missile attacks. Despite the fact they'll happily go on about how hamas is a terrorist organization that has good PR (They spend a lot of money to build schools and clinics, and NPR tends to treat these efforts as little more than manipulating the Palestians to support their extremism.), and Yassir's party is widely known for corruption and money laundering.
Ideally, the Isreal's need to work on their own good PR with the Palestians and the Palestians need a good, non extremist alternative to Hamas and the other party I forget the name to.

@Mattiedef:
I think Fatah are the other one.
Less extremism on both sides would be good, moderate voices on both side could probably come to an agreement satisfactory to most, but it won't happen.
When it comes down to the facts of it, only one side has the express intention to wipe out the other, and that carries an awful lot of weight!
Like I said, both sides have right and wrong aplenty, but I'd be willing to wager that if you asked 10 of each side if they thought the other should be exterminated you'd get 1 Israeli to agree to that, and 10 Palestinians, there's a hell of a lot more extremism on one side compared to the other.
