Quote# 90341

"I think even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen," Mourdock said during Tuesday's Senate debate, choking up. Mourdock's opponent, Democratic Rep. Joe Donnelly, opposes abortion except in cases of rape and incest.

After the debate, Mourdock further explained his comment.

"Are you trying to suggest somehow that God preordained rape, no I don't think that," said Mourdock, according to The Associated Press. "Anyone who would suggest that is just sick and twisted. No, that's not even close to what I said.

So the omnipotent, omniscient, omni-benevolent God can't find a better way to create a life than to have a woman raped? And yet you worship this deity?

And, YES, that is what you said.

wow, you're a few weeks late on this one.

From the looks of Joe Donnelly's opinions, he's almost as bad as Mourdoch. I don't see this as much of a victory.

Stay right where you are Richard. God just told me that it is His intent for me to come over to your house and brutally rape you tonight. I hope you like anal.

@Frostythesnowman

Hang on, doesn't a woman's body have ways of shutting down during 'legitimate' rape to prevent pregnancy?

It sounds crazy, but I think somebody may not be telling the truth here.

Maybe these “rape experts” in the GOP should get together and get their stories straight. Sorry, of course I meant “legitimate rape experts”.

Dick here at least has now time for it…

So... what? God intended those individuals to produce a child, and if it didn't happen through favourable circumstances then rape? That's what I'm getting from this.

Actually that is exactly what you said!

Thank the FSM you lost!

That IS exactly what you said. "it is something that God intended to happen". That means that God intends rape to happen. Knowing that evil will happen, and intending it to happen, and causing it to happen.

"Are you trying to suggest somehow that God preordained rape, no I don't think that," said Mourdock

But that is what your bible teaches. If your god is omniscient like you claim, then he is aware of absolutely everything that is going to happen from the now until the end of time (or whatever). This means every rape, every murder, every harmful deed is foreseen by your god. And he allows it to happen.

Yes, it's true, Donnelly isn't that much better.

Mourdock; imagine that your daughter, your wife, your mother or your sister is raped. Would you say the same things to any of them as you are saying now? No, no, you don't have to tell US, we know that you are saying that to sound consistent. Tell YOURSELF, honestly and truthfully, that you would tell your mother that her pregnancy, started during a rape, is God's will, that you are going to welcome your new sibling with open arms and a heart full of love.

It's not as easy when it comes that close, is it, dearie? That is why many women are pro-choice; we can all imagine it happening to us.

@Warren McIntosh: The words that allegedly got twisted are still reprehensible. Complaining about what he actually said isn't twisting his words, nor is it stooping to his level. In any case, being nice to bigots and trying not to stoop to "their" level (so low worms can step on it) doesn't get you anywhere.

His original words were shitty enough. We don't even NEED to twist them, just report them.

So, God intended it to happen, as you quoted before, YES OR NOT?. Please, get clear.
