Option 1 (the most likely one): He never was a Muslim, so therefore no one can issue a fatwa for converting out.
Option 2 (far less likely, but still more sane than Jack's idea): He was once Muslim, but was part of a more reform sect, one that doesn't try to kill those who stray (if Islam even calls for that, which above comments suggest is a lie). There are a ton of violent edicts in the Old Testament, but few Jews would actually advocate stoning people for a wide array of transgressions. Similarly, most Muslims are not bloodthirsty savages who want to kill everyone.

A Fatwa is any kind of groundbreaking ruling in Islamic Law (i.e. "landmark case"), generally non-binding to anybody and can be issued by anybody scholared in Islamic Law.

By the way, Jihad means holy war, so I think that's the word your looking for Jack. Though Jihad is only a pillar, possibly, of shia islam and... it also is meant to mean spiritual purification. Holy war against internal demons and stuff. It was twisted to mean physical war against infidels.

The majority of Muslim scholars hold to the traditional view that apostasy is punishable by death or imprisonment until repentance, at least for adult men of sound mind.

Sure, death is the price for causing 'mischief' - but the hadiths do state one should be killed for leaving Islam. Though interpretation vary to whom this applies and under what circumstances.

How? There's like 30 sects of Islam, and most of them are fighting eachother.There's Sunnis, Shi'ites, Wahabbists, Salafists, Khawarij. If they ALL know this secret their intelligence network must be both more expansive and more secure than that of the CIA as it actually crosses borders between rival countries and mortal enemy factions in several languages.
Frankly if they have that sort of advanced intelligence network their infiltration power must be equally good. It's likely that not only is Barack Obama a Muslim, but so is every world leader, all of congress, the pope and the head of every fortune 500 company.

The passage quoted referred to apostates from Islam who returned with the enemy to fight their former brethren, and it had to do with wars going on at the time in the Arabian Peninsula. It was not meant to apply to peaceful apostates. It isn't probative in any way of the President's religion, which in any case is professed Christianity.
There probably are a lot of fatwas against Obama, as any Muslim cleric who is a mufti and has studied Islam for 12 years can give one. Basically, it's a scholar's opinion based on religious tradition, very rarely a call for capital punishment.

First, I don't recall him having ever claimed to be a muslim in the first place, much less having converted from Islam to christianity.
Second, Islam is not exactly a single monolithic organization with a rigid hierarchy. None of the major sects of islam has an authority figure who hands down edicts from on high, nor do they have a formal organized clergy. In light of those facts it is the height of ignorance and stupidity to even so much as suggest that a fatwa of any sort exists for every single muslim who has left islam or converted to another religion. There are literally hundreds of thousands of former muslims who have not, and in all likelyhood, will never be the subject of a fatwa.
If someone did order a fatwa, you'd jut say, "that's not a real fatwa."

It could, y'know, have to do with the fact that he was never actually Muslim in the first place... or that a fatwa is an entirely inappropriate response to a conversion even if he were, given that it's a juristic ruling, not putting out a hit. It'd be roughly the equivalent of responding to a defection with a Supreme Court ruling.
I'm not getting into what the Quran does or does not say, because I honestly have no idea. I have some familiarity with the Bible and know where to look up what I don't know, but the Quran is foreign to me.
