Quote# 90403

Yes, let’s take back the rainbow for God. Let the homosexual community find a different religious symbol to commandeer. If they were feeling congenial, perhaps the Muslims would let them borrow their crescent moon. In these desperate economic times, maybe the Wiccans would rent the pentagram to them. I don’t really care. What I want is for the Christian community to wake up, wipe the sleep from their eyes, and realize that they are in a spiritual battle that isn’t going away and has no demilitarized zones. The rainbow is a symbol, but it’s meaning points to the very character of God. So Christians …use this God-given symbol for His glory. Using it won’t make you a homosexual. It won’t make you a New Ager. It won’t make leprechauns real. But it might allow you to get into conversations with people who need to meet the very One Who gave us His promise in the first place.

Homosexuality is not a religion and the Rainbow is for everybody. The gays will continue to use it as a symbol of pride and the Christians will deal.

The comments on that article are so refreshing. A bunch of reason against very little right-wing nuttery.

Just when I tought the Christian symbol was a cross...

The cross is the symbol of Christainity because it is their burden to...

Bear persecution in the fact of belief, with dignity.

To sacrifice everything to support those even worse off themselves, with gratitude.

To appreciate that sin intersects their lives at all points and they have to live in eternal repentance, with grace.

To live chaste or faithful lives, with happiness.

Darling Ken. You can have the rainbow symbol when you live up these four, just four, major tenets of the cross. Also, to show your submission and faith to the lord, wear a humble wooden cross and wear it upside down. Saint Peter was not worthy to be crucified the same way as the Christ, and he was infinitely more Christlike than you.

"...let’s take back the rainbow for God."

Let's not. If it's important to God, one would think he'd be capable of taking it back himself.

How about instead, you work on minding your own business and acting like one of the adults.

Go nuts. Use as many rainbows as you want.

"The rainbow is a symbol, but it’s meaning points to the very character of God."

Yes... that your god makes mistakes and his only way of fixing them is to commit genocide on a scale that no person has ever matched.

Do you really want to draw attention to that?

'Scuse, aren't you the same folks who are afraid of ponies and care bears and teletubbies? Sure you can handle a rainbow?

Heimdall, the guardian of Bifrost, would like a word with you.

You know, I prefer the idea of a rainbow bridge leading to Asgard where the Aesir live over the idea of Yahweh who once drowned all living things.

Christians aren't the only ones who can claim them.

Don't tell me.... Has it been "commandeered" by the gays because the light from the sun is "bent" by a differing amount for each wavelength? I bet there have been rainbows as long as there has been rain.

So, the rainbow is a symbol of God's promise not to flood the world again.

Next time everyone except his favourites are wiped from the face of the world it's going to be by fire, famine, pestilence and death. Gee, thanks.

You can start using the Rainbow as a Christian symbol if you want, but that won't keep the Gay Rights community from continuing to use the Rainbow as well.

Don't confuse a public-domain symbol with a registered trade mark.

No, I'm afraid not. You have a very poor record of misusing symbols. Your cross has been prominantly displayed whilst you people commited countless acts of oppression, torture and murder.

And whenever I see a little fish symbol on a car, I can be pretty sure that the person driving it will be a cluless, discourtious prick.

Furthermore, homosexuality isn't a religion, and a rainbow is a natural phenomenon, so is not yours to own. Also, your god is a man-made invention, and very few people will want to get into a conversation with you.

There's very little that shocks/surprises me these days (Lucasfilm bought out by Disney? They bought Marvel after all, and in the case of the former, that's George Lucas's pension all sorted out, so meh), but in the above case, when I discovered this plaque, I was genuinely weirded out. o_O;

Ok, let the xians have "their" rainbow back...in the meantime maybe they'd care to give the winter solstice holiday back to the pagans?

But it might allow you to get into conversations with people who need to meet the very One Who gave us His promise in the first place.

And that promise was never to use water to destroy the world again--next time, he'd use fire instead.

The rainbow is not a religious symbol. It is an optical phenomenon created by the scattering of white light into its component colors at it passes through reflective mediums, which has been happening since long before a bunch of nomads made up a flood story.

Yes, by all means. Maybe they can take the cross! Just image the symbolic possibilities:

That's a very toe-in-the-water way of coming out you have there.
