Quote# 90436

First of all.... IF people would read their bibles.... Revelations to be exact, Jesus Christ himself does NOT know himself the hour and date of his return, nor the angels. Revelations also explains that certain events have to take place BEFORE his return, meaning we all need to read to see these events to know where we are at in Revelations. I don't believe in "Psychics, Tarot Cards, Palm readers" what I do believe is what the bible has already stated and what God himself shares with me. I do believe however that America IS asleep and needs to wake up. According to the bible, 2 will be chosen for election but there will also be a public figure that will rise up, then the anti christ. Are we in that time right now? Hard to say, although things seem to point that way. In the end days, God does talk about division among us. Already we are hearing how the Democrats are talking about if your Christian you need to bail now and leave. God is moving us around folks, he is getting us ready, moving us into position. Wars and rumors of wars are also stated in this book. Israel will NOT see peace until his return. If we sit here and put so much focus on the media and all this madness flying around we actually rob ourselves of what God has given us. We have taken our eyes off of him and not stood on our faith and our trust in him. Yes, these things are heartbreaking, yes when it does come down to who wins we will be faced with enduring what they have to offer us, but I say take heart, keep your spiritual eyes and ears open and stay focused on what God will have you focused on. "Satan will come like a thief in the night, a wolf in sheep's clothing...a coat of many colors" We all need to be watching and praying and continuing life as God intended. We are living in scary times folks, no question. Where is our faith? Where is our trust? God says, FEAR NOT! For I AM with you always! With much love from God and I to all of you! God Bless us all! :)

The New Testament is also pretty clear that all of those events would have happened within the lifetime of the apostles. Jesus said that not a generation would pass before his return. It's been 2,000 years.

Actually, you know what, I don't even get this idea of Jesus coming back. Isn't the point of Christianity that Jesus was the Messiah and fulfilled the prophecies. But now you guys are waiting around for him to come back and do a bunch more prophecies.

Well the passage in question implies that no one including Jesus and all the angels in Heaven don't know when the world will end, except the Father. This is one of those passages that Trinitarian Christians choose to ignore that bit of subtext. That or go read William Lane Craig's ironically titled Reasonable Faith and watch his display of impressive mental contusions as he tries to rationalize a belief that Jesus and God are literally the same being when the New Testament is constantly showing Jesus lacking knowledge that God has, or even talking to God like that "Father why have you forsaken me?" speech.

"Revelations to be exact, Jesus Christ himself does NOT know himself the hour and date of his return"

Um ... dude? That quote isn't from the book of Revelation!

It's from the Gospels:

"But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."
-- Mark 13:32 (also Matthew 24:36)

Old Viking

That's a l-o-o-o-n-g wake-up call. I dozed off.

Jesus Christ himself does NOT know himself the hour and date of his return

Jesus, true man and true God, of one being with the father, God the eternal, omnipotent, all knowing.

Well, almost all knowing, apparently.

I find it amusing that these people really think Jesus belongs to some kind of duty-call task force:

"OK Jesus, suit up and get the lead out, Last Judgment time. This is not a drill! Let's go!"

"First of all.... IF people would read their bibles"

What Jesus also said was that he would return within the lifetime of his current disciples. He blew that date by about 1900 years.
End times are bullshit.

A dead man will not 'return'.

.... IF people would read their bibles

Quite. Christians actually reading their bibles would indeed be quite something.

A thief in the night?

A wolf in sheep's clothing?

A coat of many colors?

I question your actual familiarity with the Bible, given that you just threw together three random and totally unconnected phrases (one of which was supposed to apply to JESUS) and connected them to the Devil and pretended they were part of the same quote.

Try reading the book yourself before you bitch about how no-one else will read it.

Reverend Spith

"Already we are hearing how the Democrats are talking about if your Christian you need to bail now and leave."

Actually, at best, what you see is democrats (or republicans, or anybody else) standing up to the Christian fascists and telling them that they need to follow the SAME RULES AS EVERYBODY ELSE, and are simply not afforded the special treatment they demand.
