Except Hitler, he was one of yours. Not one of them murdered in the name of atheism and, if we look back through history, we can find any number of maniacs merrily slaughtering their fellow man in the name of whatever god they chose to worship.

That's just a flat lie, plain and simple. In reality, a disproportionately low number of criminals are atheists.

And every time atheists run a country, they wind up committing mass murder.

Another flat lie. Leaving all the historical examples aside, the current British Deputy Prime Minister (similar to a VP) is openly an atheist. We have not yet woken up to bodies in the streets.

IF you are successful in your quest of making the world atheistic we can expect to see a marked increase in mass murder.

Lie, projection and gross stupidity in one statement. Look, just because you need a list of rules from a big old book to prevent you murdering your fellow man, doesn't mean everyone does. Most atheists are nicer people than you are.

Isn't the prime minister of Australia an atheist? What is the connection between atheism and mass murder? There isn't one. There is, however, a connection between the state and mass murder. And it doesn't matter whether the state in question is theistic or atheistic. What matters is that, running through it, there is the principle of unquestioning submission to authority and consequent dehumanisation of the other. To that extent, one could argue that Stalinism and Maoism were both a kind of quasi-religion. What Stalin most resembles is one of the old (Christian) Russian tsars, Ivan the Terrible or someone. These old Christian tyrants were just as ruthless but didn't have access to modern efficient methods of killing. What's important is not their beliefs about God, if any, but the demands of their political organisation.

Stalin and Mao (and Pol Pot) as communists *were* atheists. That's what baffles me the most - these are examples of No True Scotsman most often used by atheists. It makes no sense. Atheist Stalin was, at least in my opinion, as bad as Catholic Hitler. This does not make all atheists morally equal to all Christians.

You're factually wrong.
Both Stalin and Mao were given religious upbringings. So also were Pol Pot and Hitler. As were the vast majority of those who implemented their murders, the concentration camp guards, SS, Gestapo, Khmer Rouge etc.

Personally I am impressed that this guy didn't lump Hitler in with them. Normally its a list of Hitler, Stalin, Mao, pol pot all together. For a fundie to actually recognize that Hitler was a christian is quite a change for once.

The argument is still completely wrong, but it is still a small improvement.

They might not have killed as many people as Stalin or Mao, but they also had less people on hand. Not to mention that Hitler deliberately murdered Jews, gypsies, and gays; and the crusades deliberately murdered Jews and Muslims.

Might lump Reagan into there as well. He deliberately prevented important information about HIV from being broadcast that could have saved many lives and prevented many more infections. All because he thought that 1) HIV/AIDS was a gay disease and 2) because he thought it was a gay disease he also thought that its victims deserved to die.

All mass murderers have been humans, does that mean that all humans are mass murderers?

A disproportionate number of atheists were mass murderers? Do you have citation for that?
I'd say that a disproportionate number of religous people are ready to do whatever their leaders tell them to.

The world is getting more and more atheistic, as more and more people see the lack of reason and sense in religion. It's a sort of snow-ball thing, you hardly have to do anything; just get people to really think about it, and they will perform the "conversion" to atheism all on their own.
