["So 80% of the world's scientists who work in other fields are not actually scientists but op-ed writers. Its all a big conspiracy. We get it."]
I am sorry to destroy your innocent trust in others, however not everyone is honest.
["Religious claims have no exemption from scientific scrutiny just because you call it "religion".]
Can a physicist or a chemist prove that the Roman Empire existed? We actually base few of our beliefs on hard, exact, repeatable laboratory experiments. So the assertion that "I only believe in science." is ridiculous.

Can a physicist or a chemist prove that the Roman Empire existed?
No, we call those scientists 'Historians' and 'Archaeologists'.
This guy is an imbecile.
Obviously you couldn't PROVE it, because proofs are for Mathematics (but of course, being so learned yourself you'd know that)
You could, however, assemble a lot of Roman artifacts of similar design and date them to the same time period. The sheer amount of a variety of objects coming from the same period, spread so widely across the ancient world would indicate that a unifying body had a hand in extending Roman influence across such a large area, bringing these artifacts with it. Like an Empire, for example.

Well if they can't then they can't prove the Egyptian civilisation existed either. (of course we will have to overlook the pyramids) This being the case where does that leave the story of Moses which is the very basis of the jewish religion?

- One example of gross dishonesty is dressing up your ignorant prejudices in shallow scriptural language and calling it 'philosophy.'

Next please.
Oh and btw, physicists and chemists can and do contribute a huge amount to historical research.
"Can a physicist or a chemist prove that the Roman Empire existed?"
No, but historians and archeologists can. The right man for the right job. I don't ask my doctor to fix my car.
"however not everyone is honest." Yes, you for example are an imbecile liar.
"Can a physicist or a chemist prove that the Roman Empire existed?" Of course they can, with evidence. In fact everybody can, with evidence. You don't need a degree to practice in a field, experience is enough.
But that isn't even the question right here. If God is pure energy, he's a phenomenon for phycists, if he is alive he is subject to biology. If he has a history, he is subject to historians and if he has a mind, he is subject to psychology. The question if he exists is subject to science, because you propose a hypothesis that such a being exists.
Short story even shorter: EVERYTHING is subject to science.
We actually base few of our beliefs on hard, exact, repeatable laboratory experiments.
I think that's fairly obvious, but at least one of them actually admits it.

I can do even better than that:
The Application of Physics in Archaeology:

How the Antikythera Mechanism was investigated, in order to recreate such via reverse-engineering, without destroying an already extremely delicate ancient artifact.
I'd say that if Hewlett-Packard & X-Tek can create a device custom-built for such a purpose, then any other device to date reasonably accurately - and thus prove the authenticity of - Roman structures/artifacts etc, would be a piece of piss, by comparison.
Can you prove that the Dead Sea Scrolls are genuine , without using any Archaeological scientific technique, (non-)jewish FAILosopher...?! >:D
Can you prove that you're jewish , (non-)jewish FAILosopher? Do you have the Rabbinical education/licences required to officially call yourself a Rabbi, to even have the right to have so much as an 'opinion' on any issue, never mind consider your own 'judgements' on what anyone else says to have any validity?
The reconstructions of the Antikythera Device exist, so I'd say that repeatable evidence is good enough for we who live on Planet Reality. No 'belief' required.
I love how in this guy's world, "not everyone is honest" is equivalent to "the vast majority of the world's scientists are cooperating to lie together."
Scientists are trained not to trust each other, but to test each other's claims. If someone had actual, hard evidence disproving a consensus, that person would become renowned in the community, meaning they have a huge motivation to break from the conspiracy. Why, then, would everyone cooperate? That is, everyone not in the pay of a few political think tanks?
What a blithering idiot. If there was actual scientific proof of religion, you wouldn't be mentioning it in passing, you'd be shrieking it from the fucking mountaintops and splattering links everywhere like a berserker.
Face it: you got nothin'.
JP, you are the most consistently dishonest person ever cataloged on this site. You mix total ignorance of every topic you write on, confusing non-sequitur arguments, hypocritical claims of absolute morals, and then to top it all off, your utter conviction that every single thing you say is sublime genius.

"Can a physicist or a chemist prove that the Roman Empire existed?"
A historian can. I mean not the David Barton of Brad Smith type historian, a fact based historian.
History != Physics+Chemistry. You can, however, use physics and chemistry to determine the age of an artifact.
You are still an idiot, though.
I am sorry to destroy your innocent trust in others, however not everyone is honest.
You're certainly not.
Can a physicist or a chemist prove that the Roman Empire existed?
No, but any historian or archeologist can.
yes. actually, alot of people can prove the roman empire existed. however alot of people dont have access to the means to prove it. because 2000 year old documents are delicate. a chemist might not know where to LOOK for the documents, but he can test it to make sure it is real.
science is a collaborative effort, you dolt
