I recently read an article from a self-proclaimed "Christian Democrat" explaining why they would be voting for Obama, and to a larger degree, supporting the Democratic Party. I am intentionally not linking to the original article for a reason. The article was full of the very kind of "fine-sounding arguments" that Paul warns us in Colossians to be on guard against. Given the sorry state of biblical Christianity in America, I know that several of these arguments could easily ensnare and trap a lot of confused Christians -- and I won't willfully provide a potential stumbling block to any believer.

Oh wow, this is true delusion in its purest form.
Never mind dismissing arguments out of hand because you disagree with them; now they're advocating dismissing out of hand arguments THAT YOU AGREE WITH because a part of the Bible told them to do so.
Up is down, black is white, ignorance is strength etc. etc.

Which is highly ironic considering that Obama is a mainstream Christian whereas Romney is part of what these people usually regard as a Satanic cult.
Cause there's several types of Christians. Godly Christians, Jesusit Christians, Tradition Christians, and biblical Christians. Godly ones prefer to think of god from the perspective he's benevolent, Jesus type ones prefer to think on his message and works, focus on social justice, Tradition based like Catholics tend to rely on an ever-changing church, while biblical ones... worship the bible, not god. They produce salvation anxiety and other nasty things.
If you can't bother to listen to a CHristian with a different perspective of you, you truly arg... blarg. No, I will not use the word sheep. It is overused and abused. Lemmings following honey!

Many fine-sounding arguments are fine-sounding because there are fine arguments. Paul, a lying, misogynistic zealot, is warning you against fine arguments. Maybe Paul isn't the best source of advice.

There are actually Christians who support the "feed the hungry," "clothe the poor" and "offer succor to the sick and the downtrodden" parts of their religion over abortion and hunting down sodomites and communists. Incredible concept, I know.
