Since becoming a Christian, I see God's love appearing in places I never did before, especially in many songs that aren't even directed at Him.
The other day I heard Meat Loaf - I'd Do Anything For Love and this picture came to my mind...
[picture of Jesus on the Cross]
...and it really moved me like you wouldn't believe.

What she says:
"Now that my eyes are open, I can see God's love in so many places!"
What she means:
"Now that I'm looking for God's love, I can find it anywhere even if it doesn't exist"
And how do you see a picture of Jesus from that song?
PenetratingShaftOfTruthAndSemen: Well, the song is actually about Vampires. (I'm serious, that's why it has lines like "Will you hose me down with holy water, if I get too hot"... So "I won't do that" means that he won't turn the chick into a vampire like him...
OttawaUk almost has it. Meat Loaf is the closest thing to God on Earth. BUT, he's gotta know, before you go any further - do you love him? Will you love him forever? 'cause we were barely seventeen and we were barely dressed.
Thank you, Tindalos. Being anti-Meatloaf for most of my life, I never studied his music long enough to try to figure out his enigmatic lyrics. Knowing what you just told us, that makes this fundie's quote even more hilarious! A song about vampires makes her think of jebus?? LOLOL
you know, my mother has maintained for years that Meatloaf is divine, but for.... shall we say, different reasons....
You could well listen to the song and miss the vampire theme, but he IS talking about the music video...
Fundie missing the point as usual...
Christian music sucks, I substitute meaning in better music.
Like when Cartman changed a few words in songs and became a best selling christian rock star.
Meatloafs lyricist, Steinman I believe writes the songs out of Cliches, must have a book of them. Still don't know how OttawaUk gets around some of the obvious parts of the songs.
of course meat loaf is divine, when he sings,"hot patootie bless my soul, i really love that rock and roll," he's really saying "jesus bless my soul, i really love that flat earth and creationism"
duh
Well, at least he/she has an excellent taste in music...
I believe that "that" is giving her up/letting her go/she sees it as temporary, he wants something eternal. Of course, if it is about love between a vampire and a living, this only increases it.
In the video, he is obviously a Quasimodo creature - a good soul in a grotesque body looking for love.
(Although I probably am projecting at least some of my current romantic longings here.)
Be that as is may, it is one of the very best songs in the history of music, and the best love song that will ever be.
By the way, in the album, the song is followed by "Life Is A Lemon (And I Want My Money Back)", an utterly nihilistic song including the lines "What about faith?/It's defective! It's tattered and it's frayed/What about your gods?/They're defective! They forgot the warranty" Other songs are about picking up a girl for sex because she looked so horny ("Out Of the Frying Pan (And Into The Fire)", hedonism ("Everything Louder Than Everything Else") and a hymn glorifying masturbation and sexual fantasies [/i}("Good Girls Go To Heaven (Bad Girls Go Everywhere")...
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
