Yeah, because everyone who doesn't believe in god decapitates people.
Oh, wait. That's stupid.

I'd rather KittyKitty18 continues to believe too, if there's nothing else preventing that sort of behaviour. But us sane people can manage not to murder, rape, pillage and decapitate people perfectly well without a belief in God.

Murder AND decapitate? Sounds like over-kill, to me.

Why are so many of these people just a hair's breadth away from being an axe murderer?

When you put it like that, it sounds so ... er, mentally ill.

"My reasons are based on the fact that I also believe I have felt..."
That is one classy sentence: so it is a fact that you believe, and your reasons for believing is simply the fact that you believe?

"'this is all there is, I might as well murder, rape, pillage, and decapitate as many people as I can until I die.'"
This is why the only way to keep tru christians under control is to beat them bloody early and often.

So you are a raving psychopath then...
I dont believe in God, Unicorn, Hobgobblin, or Elf. I dont believe Heaven, Hell, Gondore, Mos Eisly spaceport or the bridge of the starship Enterprise.
I dont beleve that Satan, or Zeus, or Yahwah, or Ptah, or Quetzelcoatcha are real.
My reasons are logic and sanity.
I want to live my life s part of a greater community of my fellow human beings... so harming others is kinda counter to my well being.

These people who figure that without God they would commit all sorts of horrible crimes against other people really scare me. Is a thin veil of faith really all that keeps them from being total psychopaths?
And how is one wrong by proxy? Does one send an idiot in to make a mistake in one's place?

"I would prefer believe that there is a purpose and greater power who actually cares about me than go through life believing that 'this is all there is, I might as well murder, rape, pillage, and decapitate as many people as I can until I die.'"
Or, you could, I dunno, for the sake of decency, NOT do all those horrible things and live life peacefully, even if there is no "purpose in life" nor a "greater power". Just a suggestion.

If you think you'd be a murderous maniac without some magic Sky Man, please do keep on believing in that Sky Man, for all our sakes.
Most atheists do not feel this urge to "murder, rape, pillage and decapitate", regardless of the existence or non-existence of Sky Men. For us it feels fairly normal and easy to follow the Golden Rule.

Reading this I was thinking, "not fundie" until I read the end of the last sentence. Funny how religious people keep thinking about murdering, raping, stealing, and decapitating people. I'm an atheist and doing those things never, ever crosses my mind.

Well, this guy's religious, but he seems relatively reasonable, I don't see why-
Oh.

Maybe YOU'D like to do all those things, and are only restrained by the thought that an Old Man might punish you. I have occasionally wished to commit murder, and find common decency and the prospect of a perfectly mortal Big House a sufficient deterrent. The rest of this stuff never attracted me at all.

Sane people don't want to "murder, rape, pillage, and decapitate". Faith, or lack thereof, doesn't even enter into it.

Seems pretty reasonable for an xstian...until the "murder, rape, pillage, decapitate" part.
How do they fail to see that since we only got this one chance, it's the logical thing to let everyone enjoy theirs? Instead they conclude everyone should behave like violent nutjobs... I can't

Her implying she might murder, rape, pillage, and decapitate people would imply that she finds these activities enjoyable.
Thank god somethings holding that crazy back.

I don't think this is fundie, but I'm glad KittyKitty depends on her god to keep her from going on a mass murder spree.
