Yugoslavia was a fucking mess even before Tito finally dropped dead, the Croats did shit to the Serbs that scared the Nazis, Ratko Mladic all but admitted to carrying out Srebrenica during his trial, and the whole Balkan region still has massive skeletons in the closet regarding everything that happened during the Cold War fallout.

THE KILLINGS DID HAPPEN! Srebrenica.. Vucovar.. Jablanica.. Mostar.. Sarajevo.. Travnik.. Busovaca.. Zenica.. and many, many more.
I've been there just after the times it happened as a Blue Helmet UN Peacekeeper. I've seen the results of the massacres. Completely burnt down villages, burnt buses, graves etc etc.
It still sickens me to this day.

What on Earth is a Bosnian-Serb? During my undergraduate years in the early '90's, I became friendly with a young Bosnian man who had escaped to Australia after being tortured by the Serbs. He quickly gained refugee status after applying for it.
How did he get refugee status so quickly when it can sometimes take years? It probably had something to do with the burn scars he had all over his arms, legs and body. After seeing these burns, I said I was surprised he survived.
Why did they torture him? Because he is a Muslim. He is now a well adjusted Australian citizen.
P.S. His Bosnian coffee is the best I've ever had anywhere.

Bosnian Serbs are Bosnians whose ethnic identity is Serb, despite not being in Serbia. They shared Bosnia together with the Bosnian Croats and the Bosnian Muslims, also called Bosniaks (or Turks, depending on who you ask). As you can imagine, that place was a powder keg waiting to happen.
The Srebrenica massacre itself took place in the Republika Srpska during the Bosnian War (historically considered a separate conflict from the 4 or 5 other insurrections and armadillos taking place at the same time), after the country fragmented and the ethnic Serbs established this new country out of land formerly part of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
