My mom gets to keep getting her social security. And considering she worked almost 50 years for it, I'd say she deserves it. So yeah, I guess your statement is at least partly correct.

Get a sense of bloody perspective people, this is not the Last Days of Rome. The Last Days of Rome weren't even the Last Days of Rome.

In four years people like this will claim their constant prayer averted God's wrath and saved the nation ... but the NEXT Democrat will surely spell the end of civilization as we know it.

This is exactly as fulfilling as I thought it would be. No, it's better. Drink in the schafenfreude, everyone. As Rationalist said, when things begin improving, their denial that things ARE improving will become all the more hilarious.

Funny thing, my in-laws are extreme fundies and they were saying all of the same things when Clinton was elected....then reelected. By the end of Clinton's second term, all guns were supposed to have been banned and confiscated, our entire military was to be put under the direct rule of the UN and religious freedom was supposed to have been a thing of the past. Now they are saying the exact same things about Obama. Their prophecies failed before, why should we listen to them now?

I also noticed that some extreme fundies declare the same about Repubs being elected. There were a slew of them insisting that G. W. Bush was the anti-christ and would be ushering in the end times, this time, for super-duper sure. I'm sure that it's been every single president as long as there have been rapture freekos.
I saw the Thief in the Night movie was released a cool four decades ago.

Another four years of the black dude pissing fundies off. How delightfully delicious, thank you to all of you who voted Obama.
As for Carla - good night, and keep dreaming of the Rupture. Because it is never going to happen for real.

"As Rationalist said, when things begin improving, their denial that things ARE improving will become all the more hilarious."
It had better be funnier than the recent examples. It annoyed me to no end when Romney, Ryan, et. al. kept talking about how the economy was worse off than when Obama started (cherry-picking data points, of course) and was only going to get worse if he were reelected. No mention of how it was tanking when he took office and has been steadily improving over the last couple of years, because that wouldn't fit the Republican reality, which only tangentially intersects actual reality. I know things aren't quite as rosy as the Obama camp were saying, but the suggestion that his actions were either completely ineffective or detrimental was galling rather than hilarious, but probably in large part because it could have swung the election.
