Quote# 90652

I have an uncle in Wisconsin. He's slightly mentally handicapped and lives in subsidized housing because of his income level.

In tribute to my Grandma (who's been gone a number of years and of whom I still miss), I send my uncle a check every month. The check is only $30.00. I believe he uses it for living expenses that aren't covered by assistance. I rarely get an acknowledgement/thank you from him - unless of course, I'm late in mailing it out.

My uncle voted for Obama. Normally, I say "Live and let live" and let it go at that. But I am thinking about telling him that effective 1/01/13, that I'm cutting his monthly check from $30.00 to $15.00 because of the impending increase in taxes that I'll be paying as a result of Barack Obama's policies.

Given that my uncle is slightly mentally handicapped, I'm wavering about this. I don't wanna appear like a cad but at the same time, I don't wanna be taken for granted and want him to know that actions have consequences.

What would you do?

Tolpuddle Martyr

Trust me, appearing as a "cad" for you would be about a thousand times better than you currently appear!

Leighton Buzzard

What would I do? I'd shoot you to the ground like a dog, you worthless arsehole.

Cutting donations to a mentally handicapped relative as a form of political coercion. Stay classy, Freepers.

Mister Spak

"I don't wanna appear like a cad"

It's too late for that, you're a freeper.

11/12/2012 6:18:14 AM

"I don't wanna appear like a cad"

The word you're looking for also begins with C

11/12/2012 6:45:44 AM

What would I do, Stevie? I'd grind you up and feed you to stray carnivores.

11/12/2012 6:46:11 AM

Two people in a row saying they'll cut off support to loved ones who need it, all because they voted for the "wrong" party?

This is physically painful.

Jezebel's Evil Sister

"What would you do?"

For starters, I'd give him a whole lot more than a measly $30 per month.

Doubting Thomas

What would I do? I would continue to send him as much money as I could afford so that he could get by instead of taking out your butthurt on him. Fucking greedy-ass Republicans and their "Fuck the needy" attitude. It's really makes me sick.

Hell, even if Obama does raise taxes in January, you won't see it until April 15th, 2014. And then, he's proposing raising taxes on those making over $250,000 a year. If you make that much and are only sending your uncle $30 a month, maybe you should cough up a bit more.

11/12/2012 6:58:11 AM

DOUBLE what you have been sending you dear uncle! $60.00 A MONTH!

And going by your "logic" concerning you mythical "Kenyan, Muslim, Communist, Nazi, Satanist, Reptilian, Romulan, Tapeworm, Sith Lord Obama" and the "economy" going "poof", shouldn't he need EVEN MORE MONEY!

Your poor Grandma, Deity bless her soul, must be rolling in her grave/cremation urn.

You wonder why these above things are crapola these days? Why we had teachers from hell, moronic 911 people, potholes, collapsed bridges, crappy CPS, etc? It's because we have under-hired, overworked, underpaid, understaffed people & little money for repairs & paying these people!

Finally, Obama's finally gonna get those super-rich schmucks to pay their taxes! I'm not worried about a mythical "fiscal cliff" because the 1% big tax bucks are going to make up for it! One guy on MSNBC said the "cliff" is more like "a soft grassy slope".

Rabbit of Caerbannog

Congrats, you're officially scum.

11/12/2012 7:20:36 AM

So, you help your relatives based on what political party they vote for? Human rights mean nothing to you, Stevie-boy, apparently

What would Jesus do?

I thought Obama intended to raise the taxes for the richest of the rich. If I have heard that info, across the Atlantic, how come you haven't, boyo?

11/12/2012 7:24:04 AM

Dear MplsSteve,
you're an asshole.

In disgust, the world.

11/12/2012 7:53:50 AM

"What would you do?"

If I were you I'd spend twenty five cents on a bullet and eat it, you vindictive fuck.

You and LadyBuck a few posts up exemplify the whole "compassionate conservative" bullshit that everybody can see through. That's why you guys fucking lost damn near every election.

11/12/2012 8:00:21 AM

It's not so much that republicans want to be allowed buy votes, it's just how little they actually believe free will, independence and voting autonomy are worth.

11/12/2012 8:09:27 AM

What would I do?

Not be a sore loser like many Republicans on this site are and take it out on my dependant loved ones who NEED that money.

11/12/2012 8:48:48 AM

"want him to know that actions have consequences."

What fucking actions!

All he did was vote for a different party from you.

Like it or not, not everyone has the same political views.

This means that at some point in your life you will probably have to live under a government that you personally didn't vote for.

That's the price you pay to live in a free society where everyone has the right to vote.

This time round you lost. Get over it and stop acting like a self righteous prick.

11/12/2012 9:04:09 AM

"I don't wanna appear like a cad..."

Whoops, too late.

11/12/2012 9:04:52 AM

It was nice of you to donate to your uncle but you immediately ruined any positive recognition for it by saying that you'd cut it just because of how he voted. Like it or not, he probably depends on your donation now and cutting it over a political choice is tantamount to extortion.

11/12/2012 9:34:13 AM

But remember folks, private charities are far more efficient, magnanimous and helpful than the government could ever be.

11/12/2012 9:34:32 AM

As someone who works with the slightly mentally handicapped, the uncle probably doesn't absolutely need the money as the most basic necessities are likely provided with the housing. It likely goes for less vital but still nice quality-of-life things like activities and meals out, an extra treat like a soda or something.

I sincerely hope MplsSteve is a bit better than LadyBuck and continues to send the money though, or at very least goes with the posters suggesting he wait to see if he gets into a financial pinch down the line because of Obama (eyeroll over how Romney would likely have had to raise taxes too). Even tell the uncle to talk with you more before casting a vote, sure, maybe he was given crucially different facts by one of us evil underpaid social workers. (Receptionist/gopher in an office? $9-13/hour. Group home support for the mentally disabled? $8-11/hour. As one friend put it, it's like people get paid more to take care of an office than other human beings.)

Any which way, more gratitude on the uncle's part would be good. Now about that constitution thing and the little "right to vote" thing in there...

11/12/2012 9:34:39 AM

What a whiny asshole. Making your disabled relative pay for your butt-hurt at losing the election.

11/12/2012 9:42:35 AM

Do we need any more proof that the republican party attracts selfish evil fucks?

Isn't overwhelming greed, avarice and gluttony supposed to be against these people's religion or something?

11/12/2012 10:58:54 AM

And any guesses as to how much this cunt will have talked about cutting off it as a result of the tax increases Bush made to the middle income families??
