Quote# 9068

I firmly believe the devil is the reason Islamic pilgrims are trampled to death with such strange regularity.

Because Satan is the true god of the Hajj, one would think he would want the pilgrimage to be a smoothly run operation. The ironic twist of having people die during the stoning ritual apparently is just too tempting for Satan and his host of fallen angels to pass up.

How Are You Gentlemen?

Actually Halliburton was in charge of it this year. Oh, wait...

Does the same apply to crowd deaths in soccer matches? The devil's game!

The Last Conformist

Did this guy just say Satan is a god?

Well, Satan is supposed to be the rock they cast stones at, so he is central to that ceremony, but the intention is completely opposite to Todd's explanation. Never mind the bullshit about Satan and his fallen angels.

I really wish the inbred rednecks in Todd Strandberg's ivory towers would get an education outside of Chick ministries before shooting their mouths off about religions they claim to understand.

Oh, wait, it's their esteemed leader.

Small world indeed. I hate to say it, but I went to high school with this guy (it was a public school, ha ha). This was in the mid-80s, and he was a zealot then. Good to know not everyone gets MORE nuts as they age.

Blurb, that's truly fascinating. And terrifying. Makes me wonder whether any of the crazies I went to school with are hiding out on these boards...

I had an algebra class with him. Once I showed him an album cover (can't remember the band... most likey some 80s metal outfit). He right away found a \"devil symbol\" on the cover (you had to turn the cover upside-down to see it).

If it's any consolation, the album sucked.

True, though. If they did not believe in the devil these tramplings would stop happening. It is a shame lack of devil-belief would not put an end to all trampling deaths.

Also, my condolences to Blurb. Unless it was an entertaining experience.

To be honest, I feel indifferent to the experience. I was amused, but not surprised when I was looking through the pictures on the RaptureReady site and saw someone I knew. No, we never \"hung out.\" Like I said, he was a Jezus-freak back then. I have never been.

Too bad the 'most informed critique of another religion' award has already been given out.
