Quote# 90718

If you look at history through a biblical world view, the last step before a nation is completely destroyed is they drive the righteous from among them. If this isn’t a sign of a group of people that will drive the righteous from among them, and that’s the last step before God’s wrath comes, I fear for our country and it is - it cannot be overstated, it cannot be called paranoid ... If you are a God-fearing person, hear me. Last call, America. Last call. Because the righteous will be driven from among them.

They are nasty, divisive and, I'm sorry, but there is no way to describe that quote from Valerie Jarrett other than evil. Warning: Saul Alinsky is just the beginning of these people.

But I believe in the American people. I believe that we are not too far gone. I believe that people can watch and see the difference. They can feel the difference. When you watch Barack Obama, you can just see he is angry. When you watch Mitt Romney, you can see he is not. We are not an angry nation. We don’t listen to demagogues like that. It doesn’t work. No matter how much power he has amassed, no matter how many friends in the media he has, Americans know. And if they reject it this time, if they’re so dead inside - that’s a possibility - if they’re so dead inside that they can no longer see the difference between good and evil, we have to be destroyed because we will be a remarkable evil on this planet.

"the last step before a nation is completely destroyed is they drive the righteous from among them."
Explain to me why Germany still exists.

"When you watch Barack Obama, you can just see he is angry."
Most people would not be able to be treated like Obama for a week without taking a baseball bat to Fox News headquarters. I would have given up and moved to another country a long time ago. Also, my irony meter just blew up.

"When you watch Mitt Romney, you can see he is not."
Yeah, he wasn't for the longest time - but what I was able to see watching him is that he a spineless oppurtinistic power hungry liar. Now after the election he does not just seem racist but also pretty angry.

"We don’t listen to demagogues like that."
How come you can survive making a show than?

"no matter how many friends in the media he has, Americans know."
Ah, so that's why most of 'em suck at geography.

"if they’re so dead inside that they can no longer see the difference between good and evil"
I can see that quite well. You are evil. Bill O'Realy is evil. Mitt Romney is - not exactly evil, just selfish. Barack Obama, Elizabeth Warren, Nancy Pelosi and so on are good people - politicians, but fundamentally ok.

"we have to be destroyed because we will be a remarkable evil on this planet."
Ah, no real change then.

Glenn Beck calls Obama angry? Seriously? That's not even the pot calling the kettle. That's the grass calling the sky green.

Rather than list all the atrocities committed by "God fearing people" I will just offer this thought.

Frightened people make very, very, bad decisions.

Liberals are the angry ones? Funny, considering the conservative leadership often succeeds at getting their followers incensed over:

Abortion
Gay rights
Gays existing (can't tell our children they exist and are normal people!)
Universal access to healthcare (incl. contraception)
Lack of school prayer
Sex education beyond "don't do it"
Removing religious iconography from government functions
Every even slight misstep by the Obama administration
Immigration of dark-skinned people
The fact that dark-skinned people live in America
Giving the poor a safety net so they don't starve if they're out of work or working a menial job that does not pay a livable wage
Taxing the rich
The government coming for your guns
Other religions having the same legal standing and protection as Christianity
Religious pseudoscience not being taught in schools
Not being able to denigrate "others" without some sort of backlash
Daring to suggest we're harming the environment and coming up with ways to avoid that
The use of math instead of gut feelings to predict things
Not forcibly conquering every nation we want to
Not building up the military even more than its already-impressive status
Preserving some of our nicest land instead of drilling everywhere

I'm sure I could come up with more, and everyone else is free to add to the list. I'm not saying liberals don't get angry over things, but conservatives seem to get angry over just about everything.

["When you watch Barack Obama, you can just see he is angry. When you watch Mitt Romney, you can see he is not."]

Really? From my view they both had the same temperments aside from the first debate, then again Fed-Ex hasn't delivered those bias-focal lenses I ordered just yet.

People have been saying this kind of "I told you so" crap for 4,000 years. When the Jews in Judea got their asses kicked by the Babylonians, people said it was because they offended God - not because they conspired with the Egyptians to try to overthrow the Babylonian empire. When Mount Vesuvius erupted there were people saying it was because people didn't sacrifice to the gods, not because they built a city in the shadow of an active volcano that has a major eruptions on average every 400 years.

Anytime something bad happens, some moron will try to explain it by some magic intervention by God because of some supposed sin. Notice that they never come up with any wonderful things God does for us because we please Him. To Glenn, God is a hate-filled, judgmental prick just like him. I'd feel sorry for him if he didn't encourage such an army of hate-filled, judgmental pricks to go along with him.

This Gleng Beck guy seem just as insane as Glenn Beck.

We are not an angry nation. We don’t listen to demagogues like that.

Then why do they listen to criminally angry talk show hosts like Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, etc.?

Take a look at this picture. This is as good a picture of the inner Romney as you're likely to get. Obama was able to get him to reveal much of himself during the debates simply by calmly letting his opponent speak candidly.

Your hero wanted to be president because he saw the American presidency as yet another CEO position and America itself as just another corporation. For most of his entire life, Romney has gotten most everything he wanted. He doesn't like to be balked. He doesn't like it when he doesn't get his own way, and he has to be--demands to be--the focus of attention and the final arbiter in all decisions made around him, and he becomes angry and frustrated when he is not. Interviews with people who have known him and dealt with him indicate strongly that these are consistent personality traits throughout the entire span of his adult life. He does not, nor has he ever, dealt with other people outside of his immediate social group very well, and doesn't care about what happens to them at all.

That includes you.

Romney is very, very clever when it comes to manipulating bureaucracy and playing fast and loose with laws to make corporations pay dividends even at the expense of their employees, and he fully intended to apply the same principles to the presidency of this country. This would have made the people he actually represents much, much wealthier than they already are, at the expense of anyone who isn't already incredibly rich. By extension, it would have benefited him as well. He would have had no regard for the consequences of his policies, or how much harm they brought to people like you and I, provided that his stock portfolio increased in value and Wall Street is doing splendidly.

If you're posting on an internet forum, the odds are that you weren't going to be anyone he gave two shits about.

We are not an angry nation.

One browse of forums like Free Republic and Free Conservatives in the wake of the November elections tells me that while America as a whole may not be, the Palin-Americans of the US population ARE.

If you look at history with your eyes open, countries decline when bigots throw out people with different beliefs - Jews and Moors in Spain, Heuguenots in France, heretics everywhere.
On the other hand, when puritans when away on their own, England was fine.

America, at least the way the disgruntled rant, is definitely an angry nation; this from an outsider who has never been even a tourist there.
