This is why I truly fear immigration reform won't happen. Because liberals think it means "actually improve immigration so more people have the chance to be legal residents and citizens" and conservatives think it means "deport everyone." And it'll only be "deport" if you find a sane one.
Saying that the legal way, which is IMPOSSIBLE for many poor people, who are the people who want to get into the U.S. in the first place, was considered merely "tedious" reminds me of the wingnut argument that women get abortions for "convenience." It's a massive trivialization of problems they have NO COMPREHENSION OF. They wouldn't PASS a citizenship exam and they whine about illegal immigration without having the first idea how many hoops a person has to jump through to even be a legal permanent resident, let alone a citizen.
