Why do left wingers pretend that Sweden is so good?
Ok fine, maybe they like their socialist policies, but what left wingers refuse to talk about is how bad their country is failing on their moral level.

Sweden is a country full of people who support the homosexual agenda. Because of this, they have gay marriage which hurts their country. Not only that, but not only are abortions legal, but they are covered under their communist health care.

Sweden is a failed state. FACT.

Yep looks like Sweden scores as "most stable" on the Failed States Index. In fact it scores better than the US (which is where I presume this guy is from).

How is Sweden a failed state?

Seriously they have low incarceration and prison retitancy rates than the US. They have higher literacy and education than the US. They have far lower teen pregnancy and longer life expectancy. Their GDP per capita is higher even if their national GDP is lower, meaning they have a better distribution of wealth, which in turn correlates to a healthier population overall.

Compared to Sweden, America is close to being a failed state.

I live in another failed socialist country called Canada. Seven years of gay marriage and I can't see any difference. Unfettered state funded abortions and except for a few upset fundies, no problem. Our abortion rate is far lower than our neighbors to the south. Everyone seems to be grateful for state funded health care. Here is Alberta, unemployment is almost 0. Even burger flippers are getting $12 an hour. If this is a failed state, I hate to see what a fundie thinks is a successful country.

A "failed state" would be one that cannot provide freedom, safety, stability or any standard of living to their citizens.

Unfortunately for your argument, Sweden happens to do all of that just fine. (Their only major sin is that they're neighbours to Finland, a clearly superiour nation. But I may be biased, because I'm from Finland.)

You see, the problem with the argument is that if you say Sweden is a failed state because it has socialist policies and allows freedom for gays, you need to say why that would lead to societal failure.

So, I'd like to ask you this very important question, which none of the American fundies have ever answered conclusively: why the fuck do you think healthcare is such a bad thing? If we get any talk of cutting down public healthcare here, everyone across the political spectrum goes "what the hell, no, we need to stop that from happening". Healthcare is just something we do because that's what the society is fucking supposed to do.
