What distresses me the most is that this post had four recommendations on it by the time I found it, just three hours after it was placed!

technology and applied science? Maybe I'm dead wrong here, but do those fields have anything really in common, on a day to day basis, with evolution? What the dude says is not so much incorrect (except the last paragraph) as it is irrelevant.

Agreed, TDR -- but it is precisely that last sentence that cried out for display here, and it lacks context without the previous reference to \"Darwinism\" included.

<<At it's best it's a model of past events.>>
What about flu shots? The reason to keep getting flu shots is that the flu virus evolves.
Nearly all of modern medicine is based on evolution, and I would say that counts as an applied science, and it certainly uses technology.

Do \"avian flu\" and \"AIDS\" mean anything to you?

Wow did he just say physicists aren't overly concerned with Natural History?
Next he's going to say Biologists aren't overly concerned with Cosmology!
He must be so pleased with his \"Goddidit\" theory. Astrophysics - Goddidit. Geology - Goddidit. Genetic mutations - Goddidit. Crime - Goddidit.

Archaeology is useful only for PBS? So, you have no desire to know anything about what came before you?

Conformist - sorry, I'm an idiot. I wasn't thinking of medicine when I replied to the post.

Genetic algorithms. Genetic engineering. Ecology. Any of these ring a bell?

I'd like him to point out these alleged 'logical fallacies'.

Those PBS shows have to keep inventing new sciences, or else they'll lose their funding.

Maybe I'm missing something, but we use evolution all the fricken time in every branch of biology to make predictions and when screening genomes.
Hell, biotech companies complained about the Kansas ID affair, fearing it would affect the state's competitiveness.

Yet another massive biology FAIL.
And a pack of lies, to boot.

Sure thing. By the way,
here's an entire branch of bleeding-edge computer science based on principles of Darwinian evolution.
That thing flying over your head? That's the point. Sorry you missed it.
