Saying that he and his team still felt “troubled” by his loss to President Obama, Mitt Romney on Wednesday attributed his defeat in part to what he called big policy “gifts” that the president had bestowed on loyal Democratic constituencies, including young voters, African-Americans and Hispanics.
In a conference call with fund-raisers and donors to his campaign, Mr. Romney said Wednesday afternoon that the president had followed the “old playbook” of using targeted initiatives to woo specific interest groups — “especially the African-American community, the Hispanic community and young people.”
“In each case, they were very generous in what they gave to those groups,” Mr. Romney said, contrasting Mr. Obama’s strategy to his own of “talking about big issues for the whole country: military strategy, foreign policy, a strong economy, creating jobs and so forth.”

And the Republicans wonder why non-white people avoid them like the plague? African-Americans and Latinos aren't born Democrats. The reason they choose that party is because the Democrats speak to trying to work for their interests and solve their problems. The Republicans, it seems, don't even seem to believe that the problems that these communities are real. Instead they see these as just "gifts," rather than policy choices. The Republicans aren't offering conservative solutions to the issues of various minority communities. Instead they aren't even acknowledging that these communities have issues. Until they can clear that hurdle expect a lot more Republican losses on the national stage.

Damn those Democrats for resorting to specifics when I was being all vague and grandiose!

Just because the President didn't promise gifts to sour old white people is no reason for you to pout and stamp, Mr. Romney. You have plenty and enough without such gifts.

Mitt is spewing BULLSHIT.
The whole rethuglican platform rested on pandering to religious and racial bigots...
And it backfired

Oh noes! Obama actually seemed to care about the interests of people who aren't white men! How dreadful!

No, they didn't vote for you because you suck. And what D Laurier said. Mitt was pandering to his rich, white, anti-Obama voting base and apparently didn't realize that he needed to appeal to all voters instead of those who would vote for him anyway. That must be why he still can't figure out why his "we're going to cut all public aid" platform didn't work out so well in the long run.

Rabbit of Caerbannog
This right here folks, is Mitt Romney jumping the shark.

Hey Romney, there's something you might want to learn that would be able to help your political career. It's called "being a graceful loser." You should've picked it up a few decades ago, but it's not too late to start!
11/20/2012 8:37:43 AM
And what was it again that was so distinctive about Mitt's foreign policy?

It's called representation, you insufferable prick. But you wouldn't know because you only represent people whose income eclipses seven figures.

- You managed to get caught on film insulting almost half of the American population, saying you wouldn’t do any anything to appeal to them.
- In this “47%” were included active members of your military and retired people who had paid into the system their whole life, which alienated even more people.
- You and your VP made only promises without any clear program how you would finance them.
- You flip-flopped on almost any issue one could think of.
- You announced you would abolish FEMA, just days before hurricane Sandy hit the east coast and the people saw how important an organization like FEMA is and the governor of NJ (a fellow republican) praised BO for his efforts.
- And last but not least, after years and years of the religious right more or less demanding that any candidate has to be a protestant Christian, you are a Mormon…
The question is not why you lost, the question is rather why you still got as many votes as you got.
So listen to the advice of Newt Gingrich (of all people!), stop claiming that you only lost because the voters are dumb, lazy or greedy and rather ask yourself why you didn’t appeal to them.

Mitt, you're stupid. So incredibly stupid that you have to resort to lying after the election is over to lick your wounds from losing so sorely. It's like you're this virus that keeps coming back just to prove your antibiotic didn't work. I wish I could collect your Republican tears and drink them.
11/21/2012 5:41:25 PM
Mitt, you're just proving more and more why you lost.
11/22/2012 3:27:53 AM
Protip: Mitt, you are a terrible candidate.

Yeah, I knew he exploited racial tensions but I didn't know Mitt was personally racist until this.
