Nice title, but an abortion always means death. Pro-choice is death.

50,000,000 and counting legal aborting since 1973, and that doesn't include Europe.

That is 50,000,000 deaths, and it's a growing industry.

Be proud you sophisticated free thinking pro-choice death activist.

BULLSHIT!! BLASTOCYSTS ARE NOT PEOPLE!!!

50,000,000+1, if you count the fact that you were born brain-dead.
Pro-choice means just that, choice. You don't have to have an abortion, but if other people choose to, let them. Ugh.

Dr.Shrinker

And how many spontaneous miscarriages took place during those years? Who are you blaming for those?

Frostythesnowman

I in 3 pregnancies spotaneously abort. But presumably your god doesn't take responsibility for that.

The choice you mention is that of the pregnant woman, NOT you, or any other cluless, bible thumping cretin.

Just as having a wart removed is death. Yes indeed, abortions and wart removal cause the deaths of clumps of human cells, however, neither a wart nor a blastocyst is a person, therefore, your rant is incorrect and irrelevant.

That would 50,000,000 you wouldn't have given a shit about if they weren't like you.

Savita Halappanavar would still be alive today if it were not for the "pro-life" legislation in Ireland.

@Frostythesnowman: You see Frosty, Christians believe in ultimate morality, in fact their morals are so absolute that the only being free of them, is God. That's why Christians are able to say that God is good while simultaneously trying to teach children that God also killed 99.999999% of all life on Earth in a fit of global genocide. So you see, abortion may be wrong for humans, but for God, he can do them all the fucking time.

...not so proud as you who condone capital punishment, methinks...?! Oh, and one more thing:

There's your argument - and your entire cause, Pro-Lifers - in the electric chair. And I've got my hand on the activation lever, about to give it 50,000,000 Teravolts. 'Frying Tonight!' (Dr. Watt [Kenneth Williams], "Carry On Screaming") >:D

I'm personally one who values the potential human life more than a wart or flaking dead cells.

However I am pro choice because Potential<Actual. Since abortions are not done out of convenience, but need, one can assume that handling the cause of the need for abortion would be far more potent than BANNING ABORTION. Pre-natal care, maternity leave, better welfare, UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE.

Yet I don't see you trumpeting their values, you fucking pro-death advocate.

Dodged a bullet when your mom lost her nerve and put the coat hanger away?

You really shouldn't dwell on what might have happened had she known how you would turn out.

"Pro-choice is death."
No. No it's in the name you fucker. I'm opposed to abortion (and favor adoption or help from the state) and I would never tell a women an abortion is the best option, but it is her body and her decision. Not mine and not yours.
Than there's the practical argument, it's going to happen anyway, this way at least we can control it.

"50,000,000 and counting legal aborting since 1973, and that doesn't include Europe."

Because only white people matter? No need to count the Asians? FFS, go out and buy a perspective.

We take a hardline stance on abortion. Simply put, we will never allow it, under any circumstances. Life is sacred, and must be protected and nurtured at all cost.

Wait, wait... what? You want us to pay taxes that'll go toward public schools and libraries and other services so that these children can have a decent life? Well, fuck that.

Indeed! I'm glad that reconsider2012 feels we need to increase contraceptive availablility. Clearly, since he's against abortion, he's in favor of reducing the number of unwanted pregnancies, and nothing -- not even abstinence-only education -- has been proven more effective in reducing unwanted pregnancies than easy access to contraceptives.

Oh, wait, that wasn't what you were saying? You actually want to LIMIT access to contraception? But ... but ... <head asplodes>

Does that count include abortions for rape victims? For ectopic pregnancies? For dangerous miscarriages? Please, with a statistic like that, you need specifics.

Also, are you a woman and wish to be strapped to a parasite for nine months to have to deal with the pain of child rearing? Or the financial burden of raising a child? Or on the way to being a single parent? Please, if you are, in fact, a man, and you have the gall to tell a woman what to do with her own body, ESPECIALLY her reproductive system, in this day in age, self-abort.

No, if you're unable to distinguish between and embryo and a functioning human being, you be proud.

These aren't "life" to "pro-lifers":
-Women
-Criminals
-Anyone who disagrees with them
-Gays
-Any person of any other religion than them
-Atheists

They always claim abortion is an industry as if calling it that makes it evil (let's ignore the fact that it's absurd and abortion isn't making anyone rich, if anything these people make the lives of the doctors and nurses involved miserable). And it's usualy the same people who are pro-actual evil industries.

Well, it's true that many women have died during abortions - almost always in places where they are outlawed and thus done in unsafe conditions. Legal abortion rarely results in a death. . .

. . . oh, I see, this moron is pretending a few dozen cells are a life. Got it. I wonder how s/he feels about all the billions of cell s/he sheds every day.

11/26/2012 4:49:39 PM

Felix Wilde

@Blarghonius: You left military personnel off the list. Remember, all good pro-lifers are also pro-war. Because war never causes needless death.

Hoooo, this topic... It confounds me. Let's examine what happened:

A planned pregnancy sadly terminated. The remains of the embryo were not expelled, and started to decompose in the uterus. This resulted in septasemia. The only option to save the woman would have been removing the dead, foetid blastocyst from her womb. Regarding such a procedure as an abortion, doctors refused, and the woman died.

Did I get something very wrong in there? Or is that pretty much it? Because unless I'm severely mistaken, it seems the "pro-life" crowd are glad that a young woman died. Do these same "pro-life" folks get defensive of the perpetrator each time a rape-murder is committed? WTF?

Also, what does "pro-choice is death" mean? Should that be "pro-death"? 'Cause given the data, I'd be happy to compare the number of "deaths" caused by abortion against those caused by untreated dangerous pregnancy complications, war, execution, botched back-alley abortions, insufficient healthcare and religious fanaticism. I dare say some of those on their own would dwarf abortion as a cause of death, let alone all together. We already have the data on hw many abortions will be prevented by legislating against abortion, and that doesn't support the "pro-life" crowd much either.
