Thats not horrendous but shows childbirth is a risk for the mother. In cases of extopic pregnancy , eclampsia and a few others the likelyhood of the infant surviving is low while the risk to the mother is high.
Of course having your wife and child die in the process puts you in Gods favor so I suppose thats a good thing.

That statistic is clear bullshit and here's why. There are 7 billion people alive today, half of those are female, and only a fraction of those are capable of having children. So according to your statistic we should basically almost never see a life threatening pregnancy. Except we do. All more common than you would like to think. It happened this month, and in that case the fetus was going to die anyway. Any logical, reasonable person would have concluded that an abortion was the only option. Unless you're "pro-life", in which case the only option is unnecessary death. Why kill one life to save another when you could do nothing and have double the death?

I am in no way certain if you are using the word , "fanny", in the Ameriform or Britiform sense, but in either case, Sharncedar, you should try it, and get a better idea of what a stuck birth is like. (At a time when most deliveries were at home, most "stuck births" that did not end fatally for both did so for the neonate, since every attending physician carried decapitators and a big corkscrew, just in case a "destroying operation" had to be performed. If the decapitated head was left in the womb, it then had to be extracted piecemeal).

By the time she went looking for an abortion, it had already been determined as a certainty that neither she or the fetus would survive conception. Probability didn't factor into it, and your asspull numbers are way the hell off.
Instead of being able to save one life, the laws governing the medical system condemned them both to death. I guess adults just don't deserve the same rights to live as a clump of cells that has yet to attain self-awareness.

We can't distinguish between 50 million babies starving, many of them for the "crime" of being muslim, and one embryo dying in a hospital and taking an adult person with it. We conservatives pride ourselves on ignoring mathematics, rational thinking, and science. We make decisions by emotions, hysteria and the fear of making the giant man with a long white beard who lives on clouds angry. My head is squarely where all conservatives heads are - up my fanny. Where it seems logical, probable, that babies kill their mothers and without legal abortion all women will die. That's logical to me. I'm a conservative.

It happens about once a minute. That's over 1000 times a day, and about half a million times a year. Very roughly, 1% of women die from complications from pregnancy.
Only 10%-20% of those would be saved by aborting the pregnacy. But that's still tens of thousands of women dying unnecessarily every year because abortions aren't performed. Most of those cases result from lack of access to medical care. But cases like Savita Halappanavar happen on a weekly basis in places where the only obstacle to saving their lives is doctors refusing to do their jobs. There is a problem there.

As I'm no Liberal, I'm a Socialist, I don't know exactly how a Liberal thinks, but I'd guess human rights and freedoms are rather important to most Liberals.
