I'm afraid you are gravely mistaken. I was born homosexual, it is a fact of life, and there is nothing that can be done to change this.
My dear friend,
No, you were not born that way, any more than one is born a bank robber, a murderer or an abuser of animals. You have, sadly, chosen this. No one is born with unnatural instincts; quite the contrary. Whatever combination of circumstances in your life caused you to take this fatal step, I know not. But I do know that no one is born with a manner of living which will bring them horrendous venereal diseases (not to mention hepatitus-B).
There is hope for you but, like the alcoholic, you must take the first steps to overcome this.

I guess the obvious question here is, when did you decide to become heterosexual?
Oh, and um, Hep-B and other STI's are passed through heterosexual sex as well, just thought you ought to know. HIV and other STI's really don't care if you prefer to stick your penis into a vagina or an anus.
A person says they were born gay. A wingnut says the former is wrong. Wingnuts have a lot of gall to presume that they know more about the person than the person themselves.
It's like....
BOB: "I feel sad."
JIM: "No, you're very happy."
BOB: "No, I'm not!"
JIM: "Yes, you are! You are ecstatic!"
(or vice versa)
'schmenz the schmuck' is a schlemiel.
You can also color your hair, doesn't change your natural color.
I'm amazed by the balls these people have. Telling a homosexual that even though he or she has always felt that way, has always felt different, that it was a choice - you've gotta have balls for that.
"bank robber, a murderer or an abuser of animals"...
You religious types seem to be OK with doing those things yourselves. What you don't understand is those are wrong no matter who does them. No amount of projection will change that. Until you rectify that, you are in no position to judge anyone, but you won't because your typical arrogance won't let you, schlemiel.
"No, you were not born that way,..."
- Why is it that the only people I hear saying that are straight people?
You gotta love the arrogance of Christians thinking that they know someone better than that person knows themselves.
Gay: "I've always been gay, I was never attracted to women."
Christian: "No, you CHOSE to be gay!"
Gay: "When? I never decided to like men. I think I'd know if I did."
Christian: "Yes you did. I'm a Christian, I know everything. Including your private thoughts."
Okay schmenz, dude... I feel like I need to say this: let's pretend for a moment that I actually believe that homosexuality IS a choice (it's not for most people, I'm bisexual and even I have my inbuilt preferences but whatever...) So what?
No, I'm serious, so fucking what? Lots of things are choices. You've clearly chosen to be an asshole. It's not a good choice, but it's the one you've made. Your whole argument hinges on this idea that the only thing keeping us all from being as bigoted as you is the belief that homosexuality isn't a choice. But there's an even bigger belief that you haven't even touched: we think there's nothing wrong with being gay. And the facts bear that out, you fatuous windbag.
Your petty shitbaggery is not a self evident fact, it's just empty hate. And you have failed to convince me, for one, otherwise. This is hardly surprising: the idea of actually having evidence for your beliefs must be an alien one.
schmenz is making a false analogy, which means comparing two situations, things, people, etc. that are not actually identical.
In this case, he is comparing homosexuality, which basically means the desire to have sex with the same sex instead of the opposite, to murdering and bank robbing, which rob others of their rights and cause pain or death.
The reason he is making this mistake is because his "ethical standards" are based on what does or does not violate propriety, rather than what does or does not harm others. Because of this presupposition, he "flattens" all violations into the same category.
Schmenz, there is overwhelming evidence that you are wrong. Your comment about animal abusers is wrong as well; it's called "sociopath," or "psychopath," and it has biological causes. There's only one reason I can think of for someone to be so willfully stupid: you've always been that way. When you were born, did you get stuck in your mother's vagina and come out blue?
I be afraid yo ass is gravely mistaken. I aint talkin' bout chicken n' gravy biatch. I started doin thangs homosapien, it aint nuthin but a fact of life, n' there is not a god damn thang dat can be done ta chizzle this.
My fuckin dear playa,
No, yo ass was not born dat way, any mo' than one is born a bank robber, a murderer and a abuser of muthafuckas. Yo Ass have, sadly, chosen this. No one is born wit unnatural instincts; like tha contrary. Whatever combination of circumstizzlez up in yo' thuglife caused yo ass ta take dis fatal step, I know not. But I do know dat no one is born wit a manna of livin which will brang em horrendous venereal diseases (not ta mention hepatitus-B).
There is hope fo' yo ass but, like tha alcatronic, yo ass must take tha straight-up original gangsta steps ta overcome this.
"No, you were not born that way, any more than one is born a bank robber, a murderer or an abuser of animals."
...but right-wing fundies - who claim to be 'Saved' - are born to be sinners
Matthew 7:1, schmuckz, Matthew 7:1. As in put your own house in order, before you lot think you have the right to question anyone else's lifestyle.
...oh, and going by your logic schmuckz, long-time Christians can choose to become Atheists.
In using his own critical thinking faculties, Jonathan Edwards rent the veil of real lies. There is hope for you , but - like the alcoholic - you must take the first steps to overcome.
And one of those steps is to realise that the use of Bad Analogies will do nothing to further your own homophobic agenda, nor any possible arguments by you against LGBT people.
Didn't the father of the "Ex-Gay" movement come out and admit that it was all bullshit? Seems like it, but my memory is a bit fuzzy...
And as per usual, this fucker is nothing more than your typical, arrogant fundie fuck-stick. Nothing more, but probably something less.
If people choose to be gay, then they also choose to be stillborn, their hair colour, their mother, their father, to be hermaphrodites, to have missing limbs, etc.
So, schmenz, your PhD is in pyschiatry?
You are the one who decides what is and what isn't an "unnatural instinct?"
Exactly how do you KNOW no one is born a homosexual?
What "horrendous venereal diseases" do homosexuals have that hetrosexuals do not?
Remember, be specific and show your work.
Nobody is born with a disposition from which they could get STIs and hepatitis-B? So nobody naturally develops hormones, a sex drive, or any sort of sexual orientation? Fancy that.
People can have a genetic predisposition to alcoholism. And some people may have a genetic vulnerability to anti-social behavior, so...
Edit: And,wow, holy shit that main article is horrible. Condoning and promoting homophobia while being anti-abortion. Yeah, lets "save the embryos," then shun and shame any person who dares to turn out gay. Also no adoptions of the babies by the queer couples, of course, because that's just "as bad" as abortion. And there's a lot of "think of the children" blathering, but not a peep about the kids who suffer simply because they don't identify as hetero.
I'm sorry, what makes you the expert on homosexuality? How do you know that sexuality can be chosen, did you chose to be straight? Could you be attracted to someone to the same sex f you tried hard enough? If that's the case then you're not straight. I find it arrogant of you to presume you know a gay person better than they know themselves, and then compare them to people that actually cause harm to other living things in some way. If a loving relationship between two consenting adults is so bad then you should be able to tell us why without comparing it to something completely different, but you can't because it's not bad at all. In fact, even if it was a choice, which it's not, there would be nothing wrong with it, so your entire argument is bullshit no matter how you look at it.
Let's say someone invented a way to change your race. You could appear to be any ethnicity or skin color. Would it be okay to roll back the legislation and court cases on race relations? Could be bring slavery back because people 'chose' to be black? No, that's insane.
Except it's the same nonsense logic they attempt with homosexuality.
That said, they are basically implying everyone is bi and I'd be fine with that. I'm sure there's a lot of loveless people with friends they aren't attracted to would be a lot happier being able to breach that next step.
In this case, he is comparing homosexuality, which basically means the desire to have sex with the same sex instead of the opposite, to murdering and bank robbing, which rob others of their rights and cause pain or death.
But them gays getting married robs me of my right to get married, and as we all know all gays are pedophile rapist murderers, so legitimizing them will result in raping (pain) and killing children being legal. Because Obama's a commie nazi, and that's what socialist Muslim scum do!!!!
Oh, good, we're playing the Telepathy. I'll go first: schmuck, I'm thinking of a term that describes your hateful, homophobic mindset. What is that term? And "asshole" doesn't begin to cover it, so dig deep.
S/he was indeed born that way, just as one is born to be tall, or left-handed, or blue-eyed. S/he was, sadly, born into this. Instincts might well be unnatural, but homosexuality is very natural, as it's found is many, many species.
Not using a condom might bring one horrendous venereal disease, and perhaps also hepatitis-B, regardless of orientations and genders involved. You are indeed not born to not use a condom.
If you think you can choose sexual orientation, schmenz, when did you choose to become heterosexual? Have you had feelings for people of the same gender, but simply put them out of your mind?
Religion/ignorance, on the other hand, IS a choice. There is hope for you but, like the alcoholic, you must take the first step to overcome this.
No matter if you're gay or straight, fundie or atheist, or any flavour in between- I've got absolutely no use for anyone who presumes to know a person's thoughts or feelings better than that person theirself. It's the most outrageously arrogant stance one can take, and completely enrages me every goddamn time.
"No, you were not born that way, any more than one is born a bank robber, a murderer or an abuser of animals."
For arguments sake, I could buy that a person chooses their sexuality. However, I still don't follow how making the choice to be gay, would be anything remotely similar to choosing to be any of those things. It would be more akin to a person choosing to like eating broccoli, or choosing to enjoy camping, so therefore pic related:

OP: You are a condescending twatwaffle, please DIAF.
Dr.Shrinker, re: 06:59: Straight cisgender people at that. I've also heard it used to slam transgender people.
Esquilax: Where do I send the Internet you've just won?
Anon-e-moose: I'm slowly working towards Atheist myself thanks to a very dear friend who helped me remove my head from my ass.
Sasha: Given the nickname it's using and what I can remember of Leo Rosten's "The Joy of Yiddish," the word you want could be "putz?"
A prime example of the "caring fundie". In the wild, these ignorant assholes claim to have your best interest in mind, but this is but a smokescreen for their true goals: control of every person that doesn't think like them.
Ah yes, another armchair psychologist Christian trying to tell other people that they know them better than those people know themselves.
Esquilax pretty much said most of what I wanted to say, so I'll just add this: the bacteria and viruses don't care what sexual orientation their hosts are, and straight sex can spread those diseases too. Thankfully the vaccines and antibiotics don't care what sexual orientation the people who get them are, either. I'm vaccinated against hepatitis-B (a plus for interning at a free health clinic; I didn't have to pay for it), so at least for me your argument there is invalid.
You know there's a vaccine nowadays to prevent Hepatitis B, don't you?
Oh, right. You probably believe vaccines are Satanic.
Not very bright, are ya? The comparison here is between homosexuality and heterosexually - e.g., 'when did you become a heterosexual (vs. homosexual)?'
Schnebz overly-emotional word salad hardly qualifies as writing let alone an entire argument.
As has been said before, being gay is NOT a choice. Being a homophobic dickhead, however, is.
Are you listening schmenz?
Don't tell me, I chose to be left handed, because I'm possessed by satan or something? I'm statistically more likely to die younger than right handed people. It's unnatural I tell you, an abomination. I also smudge my writing sometimes!
"No one is born with unnatural instincts; quite the contrary."
Well, this part is right, since instincts are natural. The rest is just shit.
As someone who watched my own brother struggle for years before finally accepting himself as gay, go fuck yourself with a rusty chainsaw.
If it's such a choice, then why do some people struggle so much with it? Why can't they just say, okay I won't be gay, and that's that?
It is amazing that someone like schmenz, although not born that way, chooses to be an ignorant, bigoted moron. Funny how so many who choose to be ignorant, bigoted morons are also sodomy experts.
Oh, HepaTitus ...bring your friend hither.
(Sorry, I couldn't help myself.)
Well, I'm bi, so technically I could just ignore the women I am attracted to and pursue the guys, I guess. Not everyone has this option. Nothing wrong with it if that's what you're doing schmenz, but it's about as relevant to the subject of who other people should date as if you decided you were only going to date blondes for the rest of your life.
And funny enough, I fell in love with a woman. I suppose it was our choice to act on this, but have you ever chosen to fall for someone, or not to? We're statistically less likely to pass an STI to each other than a heterosexual couple, we're both clean anyway and I've had the hep b vaccine. And y'know, we make each other happy. I fail to see
As an asexual who never chose NOT to be interested in anyone sexually, I say, "FUCK YOU!"
Because, really...just, fuck you. Go and choose to be attracted to someone of the opposite sex. We'll just see how well you do. I'll wait.
Confused?
