Is.. Is he really calling upon the government's military forces to overthrow the government? For one, Christ, that's stupid, and two, that's not anything like the American Revolution. That was composed of a ragtag group of people in the Continental Army and a more incompetent ragtag group of local militia. Certainly not the redcoats turning tail and overthrowing their own government..
I guess Mr. Coyote forgets that the President of the United States is also the Commander-in-chief of all military forces and the generals have to follow all lawful orders he gives them. If they were to ignore his orders and start a revolution, they'd be tried and found guilty of treason.

Thirddrop, you could ask the same question of the Marines and the Coastguard. However, the Commander in Chief of the USAF is the President because it was drawn from the USAAF and the US Navy under the terms of the National Security Act 1947.

Revolution II. Pretty sure that was the Civil War. Didn't work out then and they were far more organized than you saps.

There won't be a revolution. Even if somebody attempted to spark a revolt, you can bet it's going to get squashed quickly without contest. A massacre would be a better way to describe it. Even if the rebels were armed to the teeth, they would still be up against drones, bombers, battleships, tanks, and all of the other nice toys the military gets to play around with.
You're absolutely right, Coyote, they did pledge* to uphold the Constitution, which lays out a scheme for periodically placing a new individual in the office of President through a method called "voting", in which they take the opinions of the public and then put the most popular person in the top seat, who is then afforded all the legitimacy of the role... and not to a particular individual.
Of course, it works out pretty similarly in most cases.
Also, did the government in Idiocracy have a military? I shudder to imagine it... would probably make the Munitorium look organized and efficient, not to mention level-headed.
