A Richland Hills man has been arrested and charged with assaulting his son after telling a 911 operator he carved a pentagram into his 6-year-old son's back.
Just after midnight Wednesday, officers were dispatched to a home on the 3700-block of Ruth Road after the boy's father, identified by police as Brent Troy Bartel, called 911 and said, "I shed some innocent blood."
When the dispatcher asked what the man meant by that, the man replied, “I inscribed a pentagram on my son.”
The dispatcher asked why and the man said, "It's a holy day."

"Wait, Is there really a difference?"
Speaking as someone who's had their own issues with mental illness: yes, but I certainly won't deny that there's probably a correlation with religious hysteria and psychosis (or whatever it's called).
@Freako104
LaVey would be pretty disgusted with this too. One of the tenets of Satanism (or at least, what he personally wrote down) is you don't harm the defenseless or those who have caused you no ill will.
A pentagram can also stand for the 5 wounds on Jesus if the tip is pointing up. The tip pointing down is supposed to be a mockery of that. It is also used by many other groups and cultures to mean different things, so this really needs more context, as in a lot more context.
I don't feel like laughing about this, feel sorry for the kid.
@Mike Litoris: Have you ever talked to an orthodox Marxist-Leninist? There's as much denying reality going on there as there is in any church.
My ouija board says there's a looney bin in your future, along with restraining orders, medications and an estranged son. It IS a holy day, isn't it.
"I shed some innocent blood."
Even the Chaos God Khorne draws the line (pun not intended) at atrocities committed against those who are defenceless .
So a fictional deity in a wargame scenario is one up on the Biblegod and his peace -loving followers in the morality stakes. [/hyper-sarcasm]
And now we know who Games Workshop based Khorne on.
PROTIP: Upon clicking the quote link on NBC's site, I draw your attention to this (emphasis added):
'It is not clear what Bartel meant by calling Wednesday "a holy day."
However, Catholics celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Dec. 12. And the Dec. 12, 2012, date, along with Dec. 21, 2012, has draw attention from numerologists and those concerned with doomsday prophecy. '
'Pagan' fundie? I doubt it.
This guy needs a shrink, STAT!
Pentagram, Holy Day? What faith? Pagan? Satanist? I haven't the foggiest! Hanukkah? Maybe he's a deranged Jewish guy who got his pentagram mixed up with his hexagram ('Star of David').
Whatever...he's no valid Pagan, Satanist, Jew, Christian or even a Raelian...he's a man with severe psych problems!
"I shed some innocent blood".
WASH YOUR SELF RIGHT AWAY!!!! THat innocent blood will cleanse you of your sins. Who needs jeebus if we can wash our sins away with innocent blood of children????
I guess xians would, when pressed, declare the kids blood as tainted with sin. Oh well. Still brings out the silliness of the animal sacrifice thing being trumped by a 2 in 1 human (which is an animal) / gawd that is part of a 3 in 1 gawd that is no part human. Or...perhaps one third of that 3 in 1 gawd is still part human. So confusing.
If it's a holy day for you, why not carving the pentagram in yourself?. For the poor thing, it's anything but holy, you coward.
I'll bet good money he's mentally ill, rather than of any affiliation with a cult.
God, Satan, whoever you think you need to abuse your kids for? Don't. Seriously, don't.
@freako104:
Anton is dead, but he would have been utterly appalled.
To LaVey, children were just about sacred, as their lack of prior indoctrination allowed for great insight and honesty, things the late founder of the Church of Satan listed among the highest of virtues.
Confused?
