This whole political preemption of the school shooting seems to support my cynical nature. The issue of gun violence is a cultural problem. American culture is rapidly changing to support progressive ideals. Individual responsibility is no longer important. Christian morality is considered to be bigoted, old fashioned and irrelevant to moderne life. Revenge for past slights is understandable. Mexicans are replacing their love of God with Santa Muerte. Goth is acceptable and New Age is hip. The village? Let the government care for our neighbors. Hip Hop defines the Black way of life with rap instructing on the beauty of revenge and murder for minor conflicts or for fun.
You see, the left sees an opportunity to make their enemies criminals. I’m not going to comply with any gun turn in, are you? The Tea Party is a criminal enterprise. Nobody is about to mess with the Black gun owners or shooters, you and I are the targets.

"Individual responsibility is no longer important."
Meaning what? The guy is dead. His mother, whose guns he used, is dead. Do you want to put their corpses on trials?
"Christian morality is considered to be bigoted, old fashioned and irrelevant to moderne life."
Let me think. Is morality taken from a 1500 year-old book, in which the most advanced technologies were water-mill and smithing and women were cattle, outdated?
I think so, yes.
The issue of gun violence is a cultural problem. American culture is rapidly changing to support progressive ideals.
Wait... are you saying gun violence is a result of liberals? You know, the same people who want gun control?
Christian morality is considered to be bigoted, old fashioned and irrelevant to moderne life.
...
You see, the left sees an opportunity to make their enemies criminals.
...
Nobody is about to mess with the Black gun owners or shooters, you and I are the targets.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it's a trifecta!
What's Christian or moral about shooting up a classroom full of first graders? Face it, parents are sick and tired of sending their kids off to school, wondering if that's the last time they'll ever see them alive. People are tired of being afraid to even go shopping or to the movies anymore. We want our lives back, our communities back, and no one gives a fuck about your "right" to desperately cling to some weapons that no one ever should have had in the first place.
Automatic weapons were unheard of when the founding fathers wrote the Constitution, and if they had known how things were going to turn out 200 years later, they would have torn that amendment up on the spot.
"Christian morality is considered to be bigoted, old fashioned and irrelevant to moderne life."
Cue the "Help, we're being oppressed" graphic... any religion's morality, when condensed to universal, overarching ethical principles, will always be relevant at the individual level, at the very least.
"American culture is rapidly changing to support progressive ideals". One could argue that it was much more progressive 100 years ago, when socialist candidates were actually able to run for president and get votes.
"Christian morality is considered to be bigoted, old fashioned and irrelevant to moderne life". That's because it is. It is all those things.
"Goth is acceptable and New Age is hip". This isn't nineteen eighty fucking three.
The hip hop thing; That sounds like gangsta rap. All rap isn't like that.
The last bit is just standard, boring, paranoid fearmongering.
"Nobody is about to mess with the black gun owners or shooters". Yeah, because black people never get harassed by the police or killed in shootings.
Yes, ultimately the one who picks up a gun and mows down other people is the one responsible. However, "personal responsibility" always takes place in the context of a culture. We have more mass shootings than other industrialized nations. Something is wrong here. FFS! We regulate cars more than guns! I can't drive a car because of poor vision, but I can got to a gun shop and buy an AR-15 and all the ammo I want. (Yes, I have done a little shooting under controlled circumstances with a range master who understood my vision.) I need to show photo ID to buy decent cold medicine and there are limits to how much I can buy, but I can buy all the ammo I want. Laws will not solve our problems, but they do influence our culture. I think it's time our laws said that owning firearms is a serious responsibility.
The Tea Party is a criminal enterprise
Only true thing you've said. It's criminal how the Tea Party spreads misinformation to get nuts like you riled up. It's criminal how the Tea Party gets people to vote against their own interests. It's criminal how they keep trying to oppress gays and women. It's criminal how the Tea Party extols the virtues of bigotry and religious fundamentalism. It's criminal how the Tea Party is blocking any and all meaningful legislation just to spite Obama. It's criminal the way the Tea Party has talked about rape and healthcare (the famous "let him die" retort comes to mind).
"Christian morality is considered to be bigoted, old fashioned and irrelevant to moderne life."
"An eye for an eye" - No, don't want it.
"Love thy neighbour" - Sure, we can live with that.
See? We can pick and choose too, we just do it better.
"Goth is acceptable and New Age is hip"
HAHAHAHAHA!
Seeing as they've both been around for thirty years and still haven't brought down society, I think you can move on to worrying about something else.
"Christian morality is considered to be bigoted, old fashioned and irrelevant..."
No, it isn't. Helping the poor and the sick, loving thy neighbor and stopping wars are what progressives are trying to do. It's the fraction of Christians who proclaim hatred and withdrawing government help for the needy to be Christian values that are considered to be bigoted and irrelevant.
In all fairness, when he said "Nobody is about to mess with the Black gun owners or shooters, you and I are the targets", it's possible he meant the owner of black guns. Some in the gun community call AR15s (particularly, but not exclusively) black guns because people view them as scary. And are black.
It is a little difficult to tell, though.
For the last fucking time, SCHOOL SHOOTINGS ARE NOT A NEW THING. They have occurred since before the USA was even a twinkle in George Washington's eyes.
Oh wait, you seem to have somewhat accepted that they are a cultural thing. That has something to do with the Americans' obsession with guns.
As a matter of fact, JimSEA, if soldiers armed with fully-automatic assault rifles asked for my five-shot .38 Special, I would be strongly inclined to give it to them. Your refusal would leave you principled but dead. I'd be pusillanimous but alive,
"This whole political preemption of the school shooting seems to support my cynical nature."
I do not think that word means what you think it means.
If anyone HAD preempted the school shooting, nobody would have gotten killed.
Jim, just because everybody else is doing it does not mean you have to do it too. I know, belonging to the majority means a lot to you, but nobody is keeping you from living according to your morality unless you try to hurt someone.
In a democracy the majority wins, and if you want to live in a democracy you will have to accept that defeat and play along by the rules the majority made.
"You see, the left sees an opportunity to make their enemies criminals."
Just as the religious have been doing for centuries.
"I’m not going to comply with any gun turn in, are you?"
Apparently, "Christian morality" is too old fashioned and irrelevant for you to remember the Bible saying you should obey the laws of the land.
Yes, we know how those godless leftist Taliban have taken up guns and bombs trying to drag the God-fearing, conservative Afghans kicking and screaming into the 21th century. And look at those liberal nutcakes Anders Breivik, Timothy McVeigh and Eric Rudolph killing all those people to further their atheistic, left-wing ideals. [/sarcasm]
"The Tea Party is a criminal enterprise."
While not technical criminal, the way they get people to vote against themselves so they can support the rich and morally bankrupt is pretty bad, I agree.
*headdesk* *headdesk* *headdesk*
Seriously,do they always have to be talking about their goddamn paranoid "Teh gubment is gunna take 'way mah' guns!" bullshit? Are they ALWAYS FUCKING ON?
Christian morality is not individual responsibility, stupid, it's a collective thing.
Have you actually supported your neighbors; given them food if they can't afford it, invite them to stay when they can't afford to pay their electricity bill?
I don't know for sure, but I think black people die from gun violence at a higher rate than white people, in the US. They are probably just as eager as anyone else to reduce the numbers of fatal shootings.
The left? You don't have a left! You have an ultra right-wing and a center right-wing.
So you're telling me it's not the conservative gun nut culture that's the problem.
It's the generally peaceful progressive one.
What the fuck is wrong with your brain?
And have you ever met a violent goth? Seriously.
Hey Asshole, Santa Muerte is just a saint. People who adore her STILL believe God is at the top.
Also, not all Mexicans worship Santa Muerte, it's a minority.
DPRK 2030:
Teacher: Why did America Fall? It is because they have placed the rights of the individual above the safety, even the survival of the entire society. Unrestricted gun access, the transformation of their schools into prisions, the defunding of the police, all in the name of "freedom" "liberty" and "rights"
... Well, they are wrong.
Students: [laughter]
(a cookie for anyone who knows what political ad I'm refering to)
With the mention of goth, New Age, and hip hop as modern threats, something tells me that JimSEA is about 80 years old.
@1485373
Oh, don't misunderstand, it's not directed at you, it's at people like this who feel that they should have the government sanctioned ability to own guns that are made for the sole intent of killing as many people as humanly possible.
Confused?
