For the record, you should know the potato famine was devastating and horrific, and the Irish have been treated much like the Africans: enslaved, repressed, colonised, brutalised, treated as second class citizens for centuries.

This big Jessie has obviously never watched the early episodes of "Roots". Nor has he ever taken a tour of Wilberforce House, residence, now museum of local hero & abolitionist William Wilberforce. The sights/artworks/artifacts of/from the actual slave trade make anything in the "Saw"/"Hostel" films look like something out of Disney (at least said films are just visual effects).

Y'know, I've always thought that if a roofed stadium were ever built here (for football, rugby etc) it should be named the 'William Wilberforce Freedome'. And around the structure, a chain symbolising the slave trade, with - above the main doorway - the crest of Kingston-upon-Hull, a shield with three crowns, with it's point breaking said chain, representing freedom.

I've flown on airlines that treated passengers like chattel, but somehow I don't think it was nearly horrific as what the slaves endured sailing across the Atlantic.

I don’t know much about the famine, but according to Wikipedia it lasted 4 years and cost the lives of at least 1 million people, forcing another 2 million or so to emigrate to America, often on ships where the conditions were surely better than on slave ships, but not by much.

So I think it is only fair to criticize someone who calls it “white people running out of potatoes for a few week”. (Also, why is it important that it happened to white people?)

Either his4life is ignorant and shoots her mouth without checking the facts (and very insensitive, too) or she is just trolling, trying to start a flame war.

Either way, calling her out for it could IMO not seen as “picking on her”…
