Quote# 9230
[From a thread entitled, "Why I am a Geocentrist"]
When it [the moon] comes closer and closer it gets in the stronger and stronger pull of Earth’s gravity. How can it then resist that pull and start going against that attraction? Contrariwise, as it goes out to the apogee and is moment by moment breaking loose from Earth’s gravitational pull at tremendous speed, how can it stop the outward movement and start back??
If everything is attracted to everything. The entire universe should be stuck together in one big blob!
If the moon's (and/or sun's) gravity was what controlled the tides, there shouldn't be high tides on the opposite side of the earth from the moon. [...]

QUESTION: If it isn't gravity that keeps the planets in their orbit, then what is it?
ANSWER: There are many alternate theories (i.e. Electric Universe) but before you ask that question decide if you really need an alternate theory. As Christians who believe in an almighty, infinite and sovereign God who is created everything that there is; why do we need to find a naturalistic explanation for everything? Is it not enough to say that God is in control and accept God’s word as correct?

QUESTION: Doesn't it require faith to believe that the earth is center and stationary?
ANSWER: Sure, but no more faith than it takes me to be a Bible-Believing Christian. And certainly much, much less than it would take for me to swallow evolution or geocentricity’s alternative, heliocentricity!

QUESTION: Imagine for a moment that science did have "proof" that conflicted with the Bible's blatant Geocentricity; which would you believe then?
ANSWER: Such a scenario is impossible, but if that were the case I would be left with no other choice but to accept what God says; science has been wrong before and it will be wrong again! "Let God be true, but every man a liar;" Romans 3:4. "He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool:" Proverbs 28:26. "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding." Proverbs 3:5.

QUESTION: Why was I taught in public school that heliocentricity was a proven fact?
ANSWER: Because even though it is a feeble and very lacking theory, it is one of the best purely natural explanations and it is compatible with the (insane) theory of evolution.

There have been great scientists like Copernicus, Galileo, Newton, Einstein etc, and twerps such as this clueless fundamentalist.

Wasn't heliocentricity taught long before evolutionary theory was even discovered? How can it be taught only because it's compatible with evolution?

Isn't it great that he uses the same verses about not trusting your own understanding that the creationists and, well, everyone else who wants unquestioning obedience does?

Elliptical orbits (like that of the moon) are perfectly consistent with the laws of physics. As are circular, parabolic, and hyperbolic orbits (the latter two, strictly speaking, aren't \"orbits\" since they only make one pass). In fact, under the (admittedly, not 100% accurate, but close enough for most purposes) simplifying assumption that the Sun's gravity dominates and the effect of other bodies orbiting the Sun can be ignored, they are the *only* stable orbital shapes.
<<< Because even though it is a feeble and very lacking theory, it is one of the best purely natural explanations and it is compatible with the (insane) theory of evolution. >>>
There's just the slight problem that heliocentricity precedes evolution by multiple centuries.

Ow my eyes. That hurt!
Dammit, always new I was insane. Still refusing to take my religion pills though. Seen what kind of drooling imbecile that turns on into.
* Proof of God's non-existitence:
IF there was a God - he would very locally ban gravity and fling that fuckwit into space!

I know that there are people in this world that can't be taken seriously, but this guy has taken the art to an entirely new level.
Note how he is arguing against knowledge and reason itself, while at the same time trying to rationalise his absurd beliefs.

Sure, but no more faith than it takes me to be a Bible-Believing Christian.
So, it is still blind faith then. Good job on proving your hairbrain assertion.

The static earth is an interesting theory. In an infinite room, what is static and what moves is solely a matter of relativity.
The sun revolving around the earth is techincally as true as the opposite,
only that gives the other planets some veeeery strange orbits.
Also... THE UNIVERSE IS NOT HELIOCENTRIC. Even the Milky Way is not heliocentric.

Way to totally destroy the context of those verses to support a view that has been stomped on by proven fact, NPP. Also, way to do vile unspeakable things to basic science in the same post.
