\nThat would just be impossible wouldn't it.\n\n[I assume YEC = Young Earth Creationism?]\n\nYou Eat Cock also fits, so I can't be too presumptive...\n

Am I reading the last sentence correctly? Is he really saying: \"Either YEC is true, or I'm wrong\"?

How is nothing true if Christianity is false?\n\nDan - that's about how I read it too, with the implied \" ... and we all know I can't possibly be wrong about this, so YEC must be true.\"

If YEC is false then FSM is true. What's so hard to understand?

Actually, if YEC isn't true, then ... YEC isn't true. That's it. This does not automatically disqualify the entire historicity of the Bible. (That takes longer -- but if you like, we can address that later.) Just take each phenomenon on its own merits (or lack thereof), rather than force everything to hinge on a single, obviously falsifiable, tenet.\n\n\n~David D.G.\n

He shoots .... HE SCORES!\n\n\n(And, David, yes - if the 6-day creation is false, then the entire premise of the Bible is undercut. Any other historicity becomes irrelevant ... because Jesus' geneology (whichever one you prefer) becomes false, and you now have no basis for the God-man.)

We all have delusions we base our lives around, and if/when those delusions are shattered, it can be a pretty hard thing to handle, at least until you find new delusions. Denial is a very common defence mechanism, that will allow RichardT to not want to kill himself. With time and quite possibly, RichardT could actually come to grips with the fact that he has been living a lie all his life, and will possibly realize that life is it's own reward.

OK Richard, now let's not think too much today. Baby steps at first. Don't need your brain exploding from trying to comprehend these things.

I wouldn't say that if YEC isn't true, then christianity (as a whole) is necessarily untrue as well.\nSure, the credibility takes a hit, and sure they ARE both untrue, but, basically, the causality goes the other way.

With guys like you Richard, it's amazing that Christianity lasted 200 years, let alone 2000. I'm amazed that you'd chuck out the whole book instead of the common sense rules you could distill out of reading the bible... oh yeah, you've probably never done that either.

\"Not that I want to encourage them, but does he realise there are religions other than christianity?\"\n\nYes he does.\n\n\"I'm starting to think that all religions are false...\"\n\nHis argument is that if Christianity is false than[sic] nothing is true.

YES!! ALL religions are false! That is exactly what you need to understand! Christianity is just another religion based on a dead-and-resurrected sun god, and nothing more. The stories in the Bible are fables, myths, and astrotheological allegories. Do you really believe a donkey talked, the sun and moon stood still, a man heard the voice of a god from within a burning bush, this same man parted a sea, and all the other silly stories of the Bible? If similar stories appear in other religions, you are quick to label them as the ridiculous nonsense that they truly are. Why can you not see the same truth about the Bible?

I have thought more about it , and decided that YEC is true , and chritianity is true .. So you wouldn't have to worry about me...\n\nAlso , I probably do think much more than you do, but i'm less educated on alot of subjects that you might be more educated in, which is the reason why sometimes I would say unreasonable things...\n\nThis post I made was not supposed to be an argument against scoffers , it was while I was depressed at the possibility that it could have been all a lie... Which I realize now isin't a lie...\n\nCan it noobs....\n\n

Why? Why can't it be that God is so mind bogilingly brilliant that he thought up a way for life to sort itself out with his constant interferance?

Arrogant about our little fundie faux theory aren't we? Christianity is equally true, with or without all the idiocies fundies throw into it to fuck it up(YEC, rapture, "saved", "born-again", creationism, literal interpretation. KJB worship).
