How We Stop the ACLU
This is the $64 question for many of you. You say "With all the money and resources the ACLU has in its arsenal, it's practically impossible to stop them". Yes, the ACLU seems to have unlimited funding and resources. But they do not have the majority of Americans on their side. And more importantly, they do not have God. This is a battle of David vs. Goliath. And we know who wins in the end.

David vs Goliath? Is he admitting the ACLU is more powerful than God?
It still amazes me that anyone would want to stop an organization who fights for THEIR liberty. Anyone who has that stance is labeled immediately, and irrevocably, a fucking moron.

<< Unlimited resources???
Does he think that there's some great shadow government made from ACLU members that secretly controls everything in the world??? >>

In a way, I'm sure that's exactly what he believes (in a vague, nonverbalized sort of way), because he's just carried along by someone else's dogma and hasn't critically examined a word of it. In fact, I think you could just stop after the words, "Does he think?"

The ACLU represents tolerance, openness, discussion and debate, expression, dissent, liberty, religious freedom, those sorts of things. So you can see why the fundies hate them so; they are in the way of a Perfect Theocracy.
Now, please turn your hymnals to Hymn 42, "What A Friend We Have in Jesus"...now!
>>Seriously, can someone explain to me why they hate the ACLU so much?<<
I think it's because the cases it takes on can have subtle implications that go over fundy heads.
Take, for example, prayer in school. Many think it's been banned. Of course, all that was decided is that a school representative can not *force* prayer. But this is easy to misunderstand as "for God" vs "against God" if one has a black and white mindset.
I think the misunderstanding is genuine and the source of the problem. Perhaps it also feeds back on itself to worsen the effect, as some people then prejudge the ACLU or continue to see later decisons through their mistaken "ACLU = anti-God" filter.
Let's see: Nedd's "side" has "the majority of Americans" AND God. Now if that isn't clout, I don't know what is.
The ACLU's side has ... well, the (actually comparatively small and underfunded) ACLU, and, presumably, a minority of Americans.
And he doesn't see his side as the Goliath in this battle vs. the ACLU as David? He really doesn't understand the way metaphors work, does he?

Dang, sixty four dollars? That's like, a new videogame, and a stop at Sbarro's in the food court with the largest Mt Dew they can give me, too!
And now I have this hilarious image of the ACLU driving a freaking gigantic tank straight through suburbia.
The same ACLU that fights for their right to pray when attending extracurricular settings, such as football games.
What utter morons. Instead of saying "I disagree with the ACLU on this and that", they launch a smear campaign that says something like "OMG TEH ACLU R TEH ATHEIST SATANIST COMMIEZ COME 2 TAKE OR RIGHTZ!!111111

Why don't you ask Rush Limbaugh for a donation to your cause?
