Moonbats Make Ms. Marvel Muslim

You need a strong stomach to be a kid these days. The push to instill political correctness through comic books has created a female Muslim superhero:

Marvel Comics is bringing Ms. Marvel back as a 16-year-old daughter of Pakistani immigrants living in Jersey City named Kamala Khan.

Here’s what Ms. Marvel used to look like[...]

Not very politically correct, what with the white skin and even blonde hair. But that’s been fixed.

The reengineered Ms. Marvel isn’t the first attempt by the comics industry to promote Islam:

DC Comics last fall relaunched its “Green Lantern” series with Simon Baz, an Arab American and Muslim. … Marvel Comics has Dust, a young Afghan woman whose mutant ability to manipulate sand and dust has been part of the popular X-Men books. DC Comics in late 2010 introduced Nightrunner, a young Muslim hero of Algerian descent reared in Paris.

Jersey City is a suitable home for Kamala Khan, having a large Muslim population. That’s where the first World Trade Center attack originated. But Ms. Muslim Moonbat Marvel won’t have to worry about any unwelcome attention if she crosses the Hudson River into Lower Manhattan. New York’s incoming communist mayor has proclaimed, “I will ban all surveillance and profiling of Muslims.” The WTC is all forgotten now.

Give it another few years and the moonbats who create comic books will have Kamala Khan striking heroic blows against capitalism and Islamophobia by using her superpowers to steer airliners into office towers.

I thought you were against surveillance because it was unconstitutional and tyrannical. Are you saying that it's not those things as long as it's aimed only at people you don't like?

Well, he certainly brought out the ignorant bigots in the comments section.

Marvel is trying to expand their readership (read: getting more paying customers). Why do you hate capitalism (and therefore America), Dave?

Seattle elects a genuine socialist and it gets on the news.
New York elects a Communist and I have to hear about it from you ?

Did you know there were 2 rockets launched from Krypton? And the other one landed in Saudi Arabia? And that kryptonian was raised as a muslim?

You are in deep doodoo.

Hey Dave! I'm sure everyone who lost a loved one or a friend or a colleague on that day appreciates your use of a national tragedy to make a tasteless and racist "witticism."

What's next dirtbag? Holocaust humor?

Personally, I like the new Ms. Marvel, she looks like a real human and her spandex outfit isn't just a swimsuit anymore.

I had to brush up my comic knowledge via Wikipedia, as I no longer follow most recent comics from DC and Marvel.

Carol Danvers, the character who wore the name Ms. Marvel earlier, is still active. She just changed her code name to “Captain Marvel” to honour a deceased superhero who gave her her powers. She is still a member of the Avengers and one of the major superheroes in the Marvel universe.

And she still has the same hair and skin colour…

Comics were pushing politics before you were born, DB:

Doesn't sound like you would have been any happier with this cover.

There are many things wrong with this post, but I must say that Nightcrawler was Catholic. Also, Dust rocks!

Wow, DC has a Muslim superhero and DC has TWO! What's the world coming to? Don't these companies know that only good clean white boys should be superheroes?

"Marvel Comics is bringing Ms. Marvel back as a 16-year-old daughter of Pakistani immigrants living in Jersey City named Kamala Khan."

So? Storm in the "X-Men" is the descendent of an African witch-queen. (*YAWN*)

DC Comics once portrayed Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman as a British* superhero:

Your point?

*- For fuck's sake, nobody tell him about "Superman: Red Son" [/Your Head A Splode] >:D

@Hasan Prishtina

And Marvel still do to this day:

The Geek shall inherit the Earth indeed, Davey-boy. >:D

Also, why doesn’t Dave have problems with

- Christian characters, including a German Catholic who was actually studying for becoming a priest (Nightcrawler)
- Jewish characters (Magneto, the Thing, the Atom, Batwoman*, Kitty Pryde, Ragman)
- Buddhist characters (Green Arrow Connor Hawke, Dragon Fist)
- Pagans (Storm, Doctor Druid, Zatanna) or characters that are actually gods (Thor, Odin, Hercules)

It’s almost as if authors in a medium that is so over-loaded with characters as mainstream superhero comics try to use anything that lets a new character be a little bit more original and different from all the others.

* She is also lesbian, that should have been enough to let his head explode…

@Liz:

They didn't mean Marvel's Nightcrawler (aka Kurt Wagner) but a new DC character, who is indeed Muslim.

You need a strong stomach to be a kid these days.

Not really. Kids are born without prejudices and will only pick them up when they are taught them. As such, they don't get the same visceral reaction you get when they see a different-colored person on the front of a comic book. They think "Oh cool, it's a superhero with laser breath*!". Besides, if you think Muslims are all evil wouldn't a hero be a good influence on them? You know, teach those "savages" to love people and save kittens instead of flying airplanes into buildings as, apparently, you think they all do? If you're raising a little bigot just like yourself he will decide to steer clear away from the comic book. But then why are you flipping a shit about it? Oh, right, because you think your ignorant, bigoted indoctrination won't fully take hold and your kid will buy the comic and *gasp* enjoy it.

*I'm not a huge comic guy so you'll have to forgive me for not knowing what her power is

Having a Muslim superhero isn't the same as promoting Islam, you moron. What is it with these people that nobody but white, Christian Americans should ever be portrayed in our media?

I saw that in a French newspaper claiming she was the first muslim superhero. That's BS. Dust of the X-Men was created quite some time ago.

"The push to instill political correctness through comic books has created a female Muslim superhero"

What scares you more, Davey-boy? This decision by Marvel...

...or the fact that one already exists?

Malala Yousufzai: Not even Taliban bullets can destroy her, certainly what she represents.

She's a Muslim, female Captain Scarlet*. [/Gerry Anderson nerd]

I'd say that it's the old version that was politically correct. The new one reflects reality, with multiculturalism and diversity.

It was Saudi Arabians that crashed into the WTC, not Pakistanis nor Algerians. Some three-thousand were killed in the WTC, right? How many have been killed in the retaliations since then?

She's not sending unmanned drones into the Middle East, heroically killing random grannies, at least.
