Quote# 9859

['Hmmm if I remember correctly Hitler was a "right winger" also!!']

You don't remember right. Hitler was a SOCIALIST. Nazi is short for NATIONAL SOCIALIST - a Statist. You know - one of those who think that we should look to the state to answer every problem in society. Right-wingers don't thing government is the answer to ANY problem. In actuality - we think that the government is the CAUSE of most problems.

So, that's why Hitler and Stalin got along so well?

Yup rioght wingers don't think our government is a solution to any problem. Except for other countries problems, the war on drugs, preventing gay marriage, abortion, what should be taught in sex ed, and supporting Christian prayer in public institutions. Oh and a personal decison about the right to die.

Lets be honest republicans are not the small government party anymore. When it comes to any of the above issues they are just as heavy handed and invasive as any democrat.

I understand your confusion with the terminology, but \"National Socialism\" was NOT the same thing as conventional socialism in terms of definition, any more than the \"Democratic\" party opposes the republican form of government in favor of pure democracy. There were some appalling similarities in how they were both applied, but this had more to do with corrupt human nature, not political ideologies. Please take some time to explore political history a bit and become better acquainted with reality.

The incorrect use of political terms hurts.

Yes, they were called National Socialist just to attract more voters - it had no bearing on the nature of or policy of the party.

\"we think that the government is the CAUSE of most problems.\"

He's kind of right, government ranks right behind religion when it comes to causing problems.

What makes me sad is that I've seen this kind of crap argument before. I think it just makes people feel better to be able to group socialists, communists, and fascists into one big category no matter the merit in doing so.

Is that why the Republicans refuse to Govern and just make noise?

\"Right-wingers don't thing government is the answer to ANY problem. In actuality - we think that the government is the CAUSE of most problems.\"
I agree with you on that point. Unfortunately for you, I also happen to think that most right-wingers are also the cause of more problems than they solve. Particularly religious right-wingers like Bush and company.

hmmm... yes, because governments who just look the other way are far better than accountable ones....

Political party names are always indicative of their ideologies. I mean, they wouldn't LIE, would they?

Yep - Australia has a \"Liberal Party\" - it's got more conservative right wing A-holes than the current Bush Administration!

Just because a party is socialist does not make it "liberal" or "right wing". Hitler's economics may have pointed towards the left, but his social stance was very much fascist and authoritarian.

Danger:

"Socialism" is just a word. Naziism created, among other things, a corporate welfare state -- pretty much the opposite of any real form of socialism.

Right-wingers don't thing government is the answer to ANY problem. In actuality - we think that the government is the CAUSE of most problems.

And yet right-wingers are universally statist-authoritarian, even if some of them try to avoid the label by devolving the state into purely unaccountable private hands. If nothing else, a non-statist capitalist system is impossible, and even the religious right-wingers tend to worship Mammon too much to give up their ability to profit from other people's labor.

Is this why the social democrats were the only party in the reichstag to vote against the enabling act, and why their leaders were thrown into Dachau? Because Hitler was a SOCIALIST?

Wow. You fail.

12/10/2007 12:49:43 PM

And we all know that political parties never lie when naming themselves.
So, the Bolsheviks really were the majority party, North Korea really is a Democratic Republic, and China really has a Republican form of governement by the people...

What part of Hitler's behavior came even CLOSE to socialism?! Do you even think before using these terms?

Right-wingers don't thing government is the answer to ANY problem.

How's that War on Drugs working out for you? Good use of money and resources?

While you're pondering the answer to that, how do you feel about that constitutional amendment to protect marriage that so many others in the ultra-right think we so desperately need?

How about this, he was a delusional right-winger who used support for a leftist party to take control of a nation desperate for a charismatic leader. Once he had the job, he created one of most politically right-winged societies this world has ever seen and laid siege to everyone he believed was unfit to live.

Nazi is short for NATIONAL SOCIALIST
That doesn't mean they were socialists for the same reason that any country with the word "Democratic" in it's name isn't a democracy.

'National Socialist' was chosen as the name of the party so it would appeal to both right-wingers ('national') and left-wingers ('socialist'). Hitler was a facist. His beliefs were in no way socialist. You can't just group everyone you don't like into one big evil Jew-commie-liberal-Nazi-atheist-pagan gang.
