That's right. Humanity isn't the decendants of animals that nature, via its own methods, specially ordained with the gifts of sentience, intelligence and caretakership of this planet. That's a bunch of evolution bullshit. The Truth(tm) is that we're all walking mounds of dirt and we should all be viewed as sinners eternal.
That just sets my self-esteem a simmer, I tell you what.
So, are they trying to imply by the image that all atheists are vest-wearing gun-nuts, or is it a representation of the death squads they'd have combing the world for unbelievers if they had their way?
Either way, it's a worrying statement of amoral misanthropy that's only held in check by fear of the Big Guy In The Sky.
Yeah, 'cause I had the greatest self-esteem when I was a Christian. I was fortunate enough to not constantly wonder if I was going to hell, but I always felt like an awful human being every time I did something wrong. I still break down in tears when I realize I've been wrong in doing something. Thanks, Christianity!
If I remember correctly, it's the Christians that are always spouting off with "We're not worthy." And yeah, I know what they mean by that. But for them to claim that they are not worthy of God's love and then to turn around and say evolution diminishes everyones worth looks to me like a case of the dog chasing his own tale (spelling & pun intended)
I love how some people blow survival of the fittest into a power struggle(but this is Ken Ham were talking about). Wrong. Theres a difference between dying by selection pressures and murder. Of course believing your a filthy sinner from birth, in need of a saviour becuase your unable to stack up against God's perfect "rightouesness" does alot for the self esteem to though. Talk about the ultimate comparison of apples to oranges.
One of the great, enduring Fundie arguments -- You should believe in God because it makes you feel good about yourself. Never mind whether God actually exists or not, believe it's true because you would like it to be true.
Napoleon the Clown : "Wait. Are they admitting to being sociopaths? "
From what I can tell, that's a standard move in the fundy playbook. I don't have enough fingers and toes to count all the times I've heard "If there is no God, what's to stop me from killing you and going out to rape every woman I see?"
This usually leads to the exchange:
___Are you saying you're that depraved? Besides, policing was invented to stop people like that. Raising people right is supposed to avoid producing them.
___"Man's justice isn't perfect. And we're all evil. We're all sinners in the eyes of God."
___Yes, but some more than others. I stole a twix once in my youth and work on the sabbath. You want to go on a spree of murder and rape.
W..T..F!!??
The filth! Why is it that crime is lower in Europe, Japan, etc?
Probably because *(#)#) like that jackass aren't there, filling people's heads with that shit!!!!!!!
This is how cults operate, isn't it? Make people think that they are worthless unless they believe in the party line.
Just one more reason why evolution is NOT a religion.
There is NONE of that b.s. there!
Unquestioned acceptance of the belief in evolution? I'd really like to know which society this is, because it isn't the US. (I'm a Christian and I can see this, it's so obvious.) It never ceases to amaze me how there is a refusal to see that accepting evolution doesn't necessarily mean accepting abiogenesis. Evolution is observable in nature. Can't see how it can be denied.
On a side note, it is unfortunate that many who discount evolution and adhere to the belief that we are all made in the image of God, often fail to see God in other people (especially those whose beliefs are drastically different from their own).
It diminshes us to suggest all the good our species has done, all the wonderful philosophies we've come up with, all the symphonies we've composed, all the epic poems we've written, are God's doing.
Human achievement. Human failing. We're all the more important and magnificent for coming from such humble beginnings.
I tend to agree with David DG. As always. It seems it is always the bible believing, fundamentalist christians in America at least, that want to fight to be able to carry semi automatic weapons. It's always the same people that wanna wage war on the "infidel" And it's always the same people that want to make laws that force others to believe in their ideas of morality.
Case in point. I work with a guy, that thinks there should be NO gun control at all, he believes that in america, we should be able to carry any gun we choose. Lets think about this for a second. At least under current laws, the criminals cannot legally carry bazookas. They have to buy them out of the back of a truck, in a bad area of town. What would happen if we abolished all gun control? At least now we have some control over who carries them, it may not be as much as we would like, but we have some at least. Wanna see what the barrel of that gun REALLY looks like? Lets give guns to the real crazy people.
Ken Ham, you're so silly. You believe that we're inherently worthless and disgusting and that we all deserve to be tortured forever, you repeatedly claim that we need someone else to give us value because we have no intrinsic worth, and you claim it "diminishes our worth" to be descended from someone who is different.
Here's a cookie.

Now go run along to bed.
It doesn't diminish humans. It elevates all of the other living creatures on this planet.
Everything we kill, everything we use, it makes an impact on the planet, even if we can't perceive it in its singularity.
I wonder what Ken Hamm would say if an alien race appeared and decided to use humans for food.
If I don't matter to god, then I don't matter to anyone? HMM. I think to my parents, siblings, husband and inlaws I matter dispite there being no god.
the truth hurts my friend, deal with it, and in future, before you start ranting about evolution, learn about it, like the fact that survival of the fittest is only half of it, it also includes survival of the communal, dont rant about stuff you do not understand
If man is made in the image of god, then we can only assume it works the other way, and if God chooses the sort of person who writes this crap as a spokesman on earth, we can therefore assume god to be a twat.
Since my many attempts to explain this to humans were constantly misinterpreted, I told Will Wright about this and asked him to make a simulator where people can see how it went firsthand. Look up 'Spore'. I made the single celled organism, and let it mutate and reproduce.
I'd rather believe I evolved from a common ancestor with all other organisms, rather then that I was created to be a little plaything for some supreme being.
Also, nobody matters to your god, because your god is imaginary. And I matter to lots of people that also happen to matter to me.
slug
If shooting people is bad then why did \"born again\" (shame he was born the first time) Bush invade Iraq?
The poster says that it is okay for people to kill non-christians (including muslims) because they "don't matter to God"
Confused?
