I'm still up in the air on young vs. old earth, but believe that whenever science and scripture collide, scripture wins out 100% of the time. If nothing else because it never changes, and remains a solid foundation, but building a life or world view on science is like building a skyscraper on quicksand. The ground is alway shifting beneath, and it ends up sucking you down to the pits of hell.

They didn't build skyscrapers from Biblical knowledge either, again science wins the day. Then there's a story in your Bible that suggests they could build a tower to heaven, musta been gonna work too because God had to knock it down before they finished.
Correct, although the bible has undergone a number of changes during its history, the version that the one which is most commonly used in North America is based upon dates back to about the 4th century. So if you want to live your life according the standards of 4th century Palestine, you go right ahead. But when 21st century civilisation collides with you, we win 100% of the time.
"whenever science and scripture collide, scripture wins out 100% of the time"
Salt cannot lose it's flavor
Rabbits do not chew their cud
The mustard seed is not the smallest seed in "all the earth"
The Bible fails at observable science.
"'m still up in the air on young vs. old earth, but believe that whenever science and scripture collide, scripture wins out 100% of the time."
Only in your deluded little mind. Reality, as I often point out to people like you, trumps all--including your precious Scriptures.

Yeah, yeah.
I've heard all of this before. The fact that science changes to incorporate new information is one of its greatest strengths , despite what people like you seem to think.
Right, when facts and ancient fairy tales disagree, always go with the fairy tales. After all, Kingfisher, only the Bible and your mommy will tell you you are special.
See, most people wouldn't consider the fact that something never changes to be a positive thing. You like the American constitution, right? Imagine if that never changed and remained as it was first drafted.
Things that never changed can't be corrupted, granted, but they also can't be improved
So, all technological advances and improvements should be rejected because they violate your solid foundation?
No penecillin for you! And I hope you never need a new hip or even minor surgery.
Of course, you have to sell that car.
Oh, and, get off the internet - if speaking only to the people within earshot was good enough for Jesus, who are you to do things differently? Pride is a sin, you know.
"If nothing else because it never changes, and remains a solid foundation"
And when that foundation is shown to be flimsy and a result of inaccuracys? That's right, ignore the problem and insist nothing is wrong up until the point it all collapses.
Of course, the fact that scripture is constantly being reinterpreted means it does fucking change and you're a lying little shit.
building a life or world view on science is like building a skyscraper on quicksand.
Says the person typing on a computer connected to the internet. If you were to go back in time to Medieval Europe and show a modern laptop computer with music and video to church officials, you'd be burned at the stake.
The Egyptian scriptures have been here a lot longer, never changing. Who you gonna believe, the son of the Sun, or some escaped slaves?
And I'm still up in the air as to whether you're a moron...
No, wait, I guess not, there is no doubt.
"whenever science and scripture collide, scripture wins out 100% of the time."
I love the smell of arguments blasted out of the space-time continuum in the morning. Smells like... victory.
Never mind 'moving the goalposts', seems that the organisers of the 2002 World Cup - when they built the stadium in Sapporo, Japan - needn't have incorporated the 'hovercraft'-esque function in the transporting the pitch outside the stadium (on a cushion of air; think the arcade game Air Hockey, only on an infinitely greater scale), and thus the energy used in doing so. All it would've taken is for you to have lifted it yourself , Kingfisher. [/hyper-sarcasm]
@nazani14
And wasn't Akhenaten * (father of Tutankhamun) one of the earliest promoters of Mono theism, when he replaced the many gods of the Egyptian pantheon, with the one 'Aten' (represented as the Sun: The Light of the World )...?!
*- 'Akhenaten tried to bring about a departure from traditional religion, yet in the end it would not be accepted. '
... [scripture] never changes ...
Well I hope you never change, either, you little huggy-poo, you.
Iron ...
... Chariots
for the win
"If nothing else because it never changes"
That is exactly the problem.
Although it isn't true that it has never changed. It has been revised, edited, parts have been thrown out, and edited again.
"I'm still up in the air on young vs. old earth, but believe that whenever science and scripture collide, scripture wins out 100% of the time. "
That's why we use scripture to build the internet you use to post your . . . stuff.
Scripture does change... just more slowly.
Ever read The book of Jasher? It used to be in the bible.
Scripture changes to accomodate the whims of kings and warlords.
Science changes to accomodate new discoverys.
What about when the Bible collides with itself? Like the internally inconsisent Genesis, complete with the fact that the sons of the VERY FIRST TWO PEOPLE ON EARTH found spouses making it incest...not to mention the fact that the Bible neglects to mention their sisters, or Adam and Eve WEREN'T the first people on Earth. And how about four...FOUR conflicting accounts of Jesus' death and resurrection, the fact that it can't decide whether Judas kept the money for betraying Jesus or declined it, and just how he died (The one I love is how him tossing the bag of silver onto someone's lap constituing a transaction to buy land where he can hang himself until he fell and burst open. That one never fails to amuse.)
It never changes, except for each new translation and interpretation.
Beowulf or the Epic of Gilgamesh haven't really changed but I don't see you worshiping those works.
Of course scripture never changes. Well....in the early years it did quite a bit. But since the late 4th century, it has stayed the same except changes in words and spellings as language changed. What.....were you thinking the words on a page would suddenly change into a different story every year or so, sort of like billboard signs?
Confused?
