Terri (Schiavo) was only disabled. Are you telling me that disabled people should be exterminated at for our convenience? If so you would have been great friends with Hitler!

She was irretrievably brain dead; the autopsy confirmed that beyond a doubt. What was lying in that bed before the machinery was removed was therefore, to all intents and purposes, not a person but a corpse that was being prevented from decaying.
As every decent person knows, life begins at conception, ends at birth, and resumes upon brain death.
Godwin. Also, people who are terminally ill, or who do not have the capacity to think, the person who has the power of attourney can shut-off life support. YOU FAIL.
Meanwhile, in Texas, a law W Bush signed allows hospitals to pull the plug on uninsured people if they can't shuffle them off to long term care facilities. Even against the family's will. (like one hospital did to an African woman a few months after T. Schiavo was finally taken off life support. No protesters... wonder why?)
More Eric Schwartz:
So you’ll execute a person and then protect the single cell?
But mercy kill the terminally ill and you’re going straight to Hell?
Well, I don’t know much about the word of God, far be it from me
But I can tell you what it ain’t, that’s hypo-Christianity.
Not to belittle the loss of a human being, but saying that Terry Schiavo was "disabled" is like saying that a car with no engine is just "running a little rough."
Life without Quality of Life is no life at all.
She was brain dead. She had been in that condition for 15 years.
She was in that condition because she was bulimic. Therefore guilty of pride and vanity. Her husband spent 15 years trying everything he could for her (I hate how the media crucified him). Finally he decided to let her go.
Your telling me that you would like to be in that condition for the rest of your life? If she was able to feel pain and was conscious, wouldn't keeping her alive be a form of torture?
@Lab Rat ~ That's absolutely disgusting. Just one more reason to hate that fucking man.
If you believe that garbage FOS, you're as brain-dead as Terri Schiavo was.
RE LabRat: *@#%&&*#&!^%$*@#^*!@&%$*%@!!! *head explodes* >:O
Yeah, most people would argue a non-functioning brain IS a disability...
Fundies, though, seem to view it as a requirement.
What type of fundamentalism is this? It's stupid, yes, and certainly misinformed, but FeastOnScraps doesn't mention religion once in any of her comments.

A common hallmark of fundamentalism is a belief that a small, simplistic set of rules can describe every possible situation that could arise in the whole of the human experience, generally to the point of denial of any complex or unanticipated situations that cannot be dealt with by such rules.
In this case, the overly-simplistic rule being dogmatically adhered to is that a human body that still has a pulse and is respiring qualifies as a living human being, regardless of the presence or absence of a functioning human mind.
Sorry, LabRat, didn't mean I don't care, it's a disgusting case. What I meant to say is that this just so illustrates how fundie minds work. "Life is sacred, protect it at all costs, but only if it's very defenseless, belong to our religion and nationality, and can pay for its own health insurance." Guess it came out all wrong.
And where were the Schiavo supporters, indeed. Why are they still stuck at Schiavo when there are living, breathing people who actually need help out there?
But she was kinda, sorta like, you know, really, really disabled.
She wasn't 'disabled'. She was a warm corpse that hadn't laid down to die, and was being kept warm artificially. She had nothing between her ears other than cerebral fluid.
Try learning, instead of blindly nodding about rhetoric spouted by 'religious' leaders with an agenda.
Wow. Brain death = disabled, now? I wish someone had let me know that earlier. I guess maybe my uncle would still be alive. He overdosed on heroin, see, and the family decided to pull the plug rather than have him hanging on once the doctors determined there was negligible brain activity. Guess if they had enough faith in Gawd and the Babble, he'd have just gotten up and walked around when the machines were turned off, rather than...you know...DYING right away.
Moron.
Yes, because the Jews, Poles, blacks, gays, sympathisers and disabled were so inconvenient weren't they dumbkoff...
"Terri (Schiavo) was only disabled."
Yeah, right. And Elvis is just pinin' for the fjords.
EDIT: Dang, the one time I didn't bother to read through the other posts before making my own this time, and I can't believe Julian made the same reference, in almost the same words. Oh, well.
~David D.G.
so wait...you state:
a) Terri Schiavo is disabled.
b) 'Exterminating' her puts you on a level with Hitler.
I conclude that you think Hitler exterminated disabled people? so you think
c) Jews are disabled?
oh fundie logic...2+2=5 because 1+1=2.5
Being dead is not just a disability, you fucktard.
And completely unjustified comparisons to Adolf Hitler? They make Jewish grandmothers cry. And they make their IDF soldier granddaughters and grandsons kick your ass. Don't do it, they're fucking strong.
FeastOnScraps should get his head out of his asshole. The autopsy showed Terri's brain had long been atrophied & she was brain-dead. The usual fundy response was to lie in order to promote their self-serving agenda.
And guess what FeastOnScraps: Fundy assholes like you hae a lot more in common with Hitler & the Nazis than you know!
I'm disabled, Terry Schaivo was brain-dead.
The difference is that I am capable of enjoying life and contributing and I'm not wasting a hospital bed that could have been used for somebody that could actually be helped. Wit h the constant shortage of hospital beds, I would say that it's criminal to waste one for 15 years keeping what was for all rational intents and purposes a corpse from being a proper corpse.
And you can't say she wasn't brain dead, because the autopsy proved that large portions of her brain had melted into goop.

I have bookmarked that page.
I find it absolutely disgusting that life support is terminated on a conscious person with a last request due to money!
There seems to be some debate over whther or not she was conscious, even then unconscious and brain-dead are worlds apart.
I'm glad when my best friend was taken off life-support it was done quietly, without the media circus.
It is not "extermination" it is putting an end to unnecessary suffering. It is not snap decision to "pull the plug" and it certainly isn't done out of convenience. It is one of the most agonizing decisions a family will ever have to make.
So for these idiots to turn this into a bible-thumping, attention-seeking opportunity just makes my blood boil.
Oyvind: "Why are they still stuck at Schiavo when there are living, breathing people who actually need help out there?"
Because it lets them look like good, moral people without the inconvenience of actually having to make an effort.
Okay. So when you contract an unimaginably hideous disease or similar ailment that renders you completely incapable of so much as breathing without experiencing more than infinite pain - which no amount of drugs can give you any respite from - I guess I should ignore your pleas to end said agonising pain which you will experience for years to come, in the only possible alternative way, eh, FeastOnShit...?
[/Sauce for the Goose]
After all, I wouldn't want to be considered a friend of Hitler...!
[/'A Friend of Dorothy'] X3
PROTIP: This is an example of how you completely annihilate the arguments of fundies: just take their own logic to it's ultimate extreme. And turn said fundie 'logic' against them.
Confused?
